Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNothing to do with the hotel but the condition of local beaches was disappointing. Also building construction work going on close by between hotel and beach.
The location, room, facilities and restaurant were all fabulous. Well serviced by local bus to and from town on the doorstep.

United StatesThe rooms and especially the bathrooms need some TLC
The location was amazing! You’re right next to the beach and have an amazing view from the pool and restaurant. The breakfast was a buffet and decent. The dinner at their restaurant was so good, especially the octupus, but the service was lacking. I

United KingdomWith the food we have a major problem that can be sorted quite easily. Breakfast there were plenty of fruits and a selection of meats. But there were four warming trays containing bacon, beans, eggs, potatoes every single one of these items were not even body temperature absolutely poor. Lunch or main meal were also tepid...I was served some soup, it was cold so I asked for it to be warmed up. Potatoes if served with the meal ( which was rare ) were luke warm. Food was served on slate , very Chefy but a plate is much better. Now the next complaint is the lack of and choice of vegetables. I have been coming to Lagos in Portugal for over 25 years they are famed for stews with vegetables, also fish with vegetables. A lot of the problems seems to be from the kitchen to the table is slow.....not to say that the waiters are slow, in fact they were ever so friendly. If this happened in the Uk or the USA the food would have been thrown out and redone.....if 2 or 3 meals had of been thrown out then the problem would have been solved......because no hotel would put up with food having to be thrown away....They would then ensure that it would never happen again.
Location to the Beach and the view of The Atlantic Ocean was very good. Even the sound of the Ocean was very relaxing.

AustraliaNo ramp for luggage as per above comments.
Need to add a ramp at front entrance to hotel toassist with luggage and for those with mobility issues. Kettle and cup/saucer would also be a good addition in room.

CanadaOur room was directly underneath the restaurant. All we heard at night was the tables and chairs being dragged around for a good 2 hours and crashing glass during closing. We were understanding, but it affected our sleep when we needed to go to be early ahead of a travel day especially.
Beautiful views. Close to the beaches and easy walk to old town.

South AfricaHonestly, for what you pay, it was not worth it AT ALL. It was basic at best, the nicest part of the hotel was the location which gives you easy access to a beautiful beach but unfortunately the overall hotel experience was "sterile" We drove down from Lisbon so had a car with us. There is a parking lot outside the hotel but it is a public car lot that is used for the beach so there is hardly ever parkings available for hotel guests. We were not told this in advance and had to park quite far away when we arrived with our baggage. When you arrive there is ZERO help with bags, you will take them from your transport, up the stairs into the hotel on your own and take them to your room on your own. The staff won't even show you to your room, never mind show you the hotel facilities, you're on your own as you arrive. The staff were pretty indifferent, if I asked for recommendations they gave me a map and a flip file but no further explanation or enthusiasm- it genuinely felt they were doing me the biggest favour and I was the biggest inconvenience. Short note: we were here on honeymoon, the hotel was notified in advance. they were the only hotel on our trip who did not acknowledge our special occasion, didn't even get a simple "congratulations" on arrival- its the small things that get noticed. The pool area is nice, although not enough umbrellas for the rooftop in the summer heat. The umbrellas that are there are also solid and permanent so you cannot move them to adjust for movement of the sun. Again, staff around the pool were pretty indifferent sitting on their phones, went to buy an ice cream and the look I got when a staff member had to get up to assist me, well it was though I had interrupted something very important. It really is such a shame, This hotel has so much potential, the staff ruined it.
Room was nice and spacious and cleaned really well everyday, the bed was comfortable The hotel is a good 30 min walk from old town Lagos, the walk is pleasant. There is a gym with a good amount of equipment although it could use a good clean
