Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomArrived on a very blustery day, rain and flooding but staff too care of us. Its a different type of place from usual, an old estate I would guess. Breakfast was great and when it was raining that evening offered us sandwiches but we called a taxi and went into town to enjoy Sintra.

United KingdomNothing about the hotel. Sintra though is not an easy town to get around. But it's worth it.
The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean, airy, and spacious. the pool was a very good size and set in a beautiful large garden. The hotel had started life as a large opulent villa some 150 yrs ago and had maintained its character and charm. It is rated 2*, but the excellent service and location made it 5* in my book,

United StatesThe hotel is old and quirky and very charming. The grounds are beautiful and a peaceful break from the chaos of the Sintra attractions. There are a few restaurants in walking distance (5 minutes) and more in the central historic district (15 minute walk).

United StatesA sign that was more visable driving by, instead of just on the wall. It was off the road so it took a while to find it.
The property is very convenient to the downtown area. We didn't realize it at first and got an UBER back at the end of the day. It was totally unnessary, but we just didn't have a good sense of town. It is necessary to UBER to a couple of the major sites, but not all. We arrived very late, but we were able to get checked in. The property was a little difficult to find in the dark, but we finally found it.

CanadaThe only unpleasantness was not staying longer. I am so very sorry we did not have more time to swim and relax here.
Breakfast was a wide variety of options wit fruit and beverages hot and cold. There was a beautiful length pool which swimmers took advantage of. Parking was very safe and we left the car to explore all of the city on foot. we were able to walk above the train station the park area the palace. We were situated in a quiet part of the city. The bed was comfortable and no complaints of the shower. Reception was very helpful with information.

AustraliaIf you’re in the apartment, take the other entrance key with you, as well, because sometimes the gate is locked well before 11pm.

Ideal to visit Sintra when you go by car. It is the villa experience, swimming pool included. All the feeling about last century luxury trips. The villa is in really good shape, while keeping the essence of the past. From there it is easy to move in and out Sintra

CanadaWould stay longer!
What a jewel amidst Sintra. Luscious garden, long pool, amazing breakfast, wonderful staff. The room was old worldly, great prints, bathroom super clean with a bidet. The location was wonderful and walking distance to the Castillo de Mouros which we could see from our room. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

New ZealandNothing - this was a great accommodation choice!
I enjoyed every minute of my stay at the Hotel Sintra Jardim - the extensive grounds are lovely, with the added bonus of a pool. My room was quiet, large and comfortable - and the wifi was great. The breakfast, whilst just a 'continental' was good. While the hotel is a little distant from the downtown area, getting around without a car meant I was reliant on Uber - but on the scale of things, this was just a minor additional cost.

GermanyIt tends to be a little noisy. So I slept with ear plugs.
Nice hotel! It is a little old-fashioned and not the newest, but once you know and excepted it, it's a nice stay! It reminds one of the old grand hotels in movies with the chimney, terase and pool. The last one is very long, like 20m. You could really swim there. The garden is nice and big and gives you a little quiet. I recommend it!
