Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesI didn’t have hot water in the shower. The staff immediately came up, but there was something wrong and it was never fixed. I was only there for two nights. This was an isolated incident, and not an overall reflection of the property.
The location is outstanding. The staff is incredible and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The food at the Audrey’s restaurant is outstanding. The property is very unique. The bathroom is huge. I’ve stayed at two different locations in Lisbon and this one is the best.

Unfortnately, we had to leave for the airport at 6 AM so we did not experience breakfast. However, it would be wonderful no doubt about it. We had dinner and it was a 10/10!

From the moment we arrived, until the moment we left, the service levels were incredible - there was nothing the hotel staff wouldn't do to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I would name some of the people but would not want to leave anyone out, but every member of each team we interacted with was exceptional, from cleaning, to guest services, to restaurant. The location is brilliant - we were right in the middle of the historic Alfama area, yet the hotel was an oasis of calm, and a joy to return to each day and evening. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It is not a cheap option, but the stay we had justified the expense and we will go back I'm sure.

This is a clean, beautiful, quiet property with great restaurant and awesome hot breakfast made to order in excellent location on a pretty little quiet square, right next to a main artery. My only hesitation in telling you this is not keeping the secret for myself!
