Small bed. Would have liked a queen size. Staff needs to be more available.

The hotel was beautiful, and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. Staff was a little withdrawn, maybe because of language difficulties. The hotel is the perfect old world & the grounds lovely.

Both evening meals were buffet style. Bathroom in room at far end of the second block was in a poor condition. Functional but not what I expected.

Enjoyed both al fresco dining and also the marvellous family dining setting. Using the external spaces, terraces. The sounds of the vineyard during harvest.

The bed and bed pillows were very firm, almost to the point of being disruptive to a good night sleep. The bathroom needed some attention. The toilet seat was loose as was the hook for the handheld shower head.

Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, a good selection of items, and delicious coffee. We had dinner 2 nights and enjoyed our selections and the wine that accompanied the meals. The staff was friendly and kind.

Liked all but was not impressed in how the breakfast was not protected from the flies. We understand that flies are present in all rural areas ,but having the trays of sliced meats and cheeses and fruit covered would go a long way to keep them away from the food…a bit unhealthy .

    Everything was amazing.

Nothing, our experience matched our expectations.

A beautiful old manor house, still lived in by the family. Our room was fantastic, situated in a wing overlooking the garden and a lovely view of the valley. Very comfortable and spacious. The staff were incredible and we were really well looked after. Meals were great, plenty wholesome food, the vegetable soup was one of the nicest we have tasted and the duck was fantastic. We genuinely had no issues at all.

She gave us the suite and it was huge with amazing views of the property and hills, but the bathroom was quite outdated and needed a little work. But it really didn’t matter as the rest of our stay was just glorious.

Maria is the most charming and welcoming hostess. We felt like long lost family members being welcomed home. We got a home tour and her house is just stunning as is the gardens and the surrounding vistas. Food and wine was delicious and plentiful.

The bathroom in our room needed some work, even though the decor was lovely because it kept that old style, the shower and sink features were not that well maintained.

The house is very nice and you can find furniture from the time of the house, nice decor. You get into the era, that made the experience special. The house is very big so there are a lot of rooms to chill and you can walk outside. We discovered the trails late so we couldn't do it all, but we enjoyed a very nice walk at the end of the afternoon. The set up for breakfast is very nice and the staff is very friendly. The room was very comfortable and big, we had a very good rest. They serve wine if you want to chill on the terrace. The only you will hear is the birds It is close to Lamego, we were for dinner about 20 minutes away which is not bad for the area

The pillows were not very comfortable. If we were staying more than one night (wish we'd booked that extra night!), we'd have asked to change to something softer.

This is an incredibly beautiful property - from the grounds covered in fruit trees (we saw oranges, lemons, peaches and cherries) to the imposing and rather at inspiring rooms in the main house, everything is a feast for the eyes. Our room was a short walk away from the main house, with a slightly obstructed view of the grounds and hills. The bed was comfortable, and the toilet was large and well equipped (yay, bidet!). The breakfast spread is pretty good - hams, cheese, (good) breads, fresh fruit, and more. The buffet dinner was good. Some reviewers have it's not worth the 40 euros per person, but I think the fancy table experience and the time and effort saved in not having to drive to a restaurant alone make up. The food isn't outstanding, but it's plenty good enough. The staff are all superb. Warm, friendly, helpful - everything you want, and absolutely nothing you don't. Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience staying here. Literally feels like you are going back in time. All the staff are absolutely lovely and do everything they can for you. The dinner was delicious and we could not eat another bite. When you wake up the views are just spectacular! I hope many people get to experience the magic of this mansion.

    Nothing.

An absolute gem! A perfect way to end our Camino! The experience is hard to describe. The house is family run and filled with so much history and love. The grounds are magical offering a chance to escape and relax before jumping back into the real word. Lots to do in the surrounding area (the Duoro River; Shrine to our Lady of Remedies) And, for those who didn’t get gifts for friends at home a lovely boutique — scarfs and Port made from their grapes. A totally worthwhile car ride from Porto! Can’t wait to go back.
