Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHeat in the hallways (where is the AC?!? People are melting!)….which was likely the cause of the slight smell that accompanies heat. Almost an aged/mold-type smell. We tried not to linger in the room hallway.
Breakfast was adequate and got the job done. Poole are solid and location is great. Staff was exceptional and very accommodating to any and all requests.

United KingdomThe fact that a noisy toddler was placed in our next room. Guest relations tried to tell me that they don’t always know when young children are being booked in but we found this hard to believe given that a high hair had been provided (we saw it on the balcony) and presumably a cot was in the room too.
As with last year the breakfasts and restaurants are lovely as is the service. In the main, the staff are all very helpful and pleasant. This year however, we had a toddler in the room next to us so we were woken on the last 6 days around 6am which wasn’t very good as we were on holiday. Last year we had no disturbances from other rooms at all. The mother used to do lots of washing up in the sink between 06.30-07.00 which was very noisy at that time of the morning at a stainless steel sink and draining board! I did speak to a member of staff in Guest Relations after 3 early starts and said we had thought about asking to be moved but decided we could end up with another family that were even noisier so decided to sit it out for our last 3 days. It didn’t leave us with as good a feeling as our previous holiday last year at this hotel. Despite being told the hotel was full, we were not convinced it was. We heard very little of closing doors either in the late evenings or in the morning in our corridor which is usual in a fully occupied hotel.

United KingdomI've had better breakfasts.
Good location in a quiet part of Funchal next to the sea. The breakfast was a fairly standard large hotel offering - I've had better, but there was enough to choose from. The room was spacious, with a lounge beyond the bedroom and a balcony outside. We enjoyed being able to eat outside, both for breakfast and dinner, as it was warm enough in May to do so. There were cooking facilities in the kitchenette next to the lounge, should you need them.

PolandSlow Internet. This is really a shame nowadays.
Good location in a quiet place, in walking distance to the center of Funchal (20 - 30 minutes). Price of Taxi to the center 7 - 8 Euros. Very good breakfasts, nice personell. A lot of sunbeds, no need to "reserve" them by putting towels although some people were stubbornly doing this.

United KingdomWasn’t my kind of music at night but that’s not an issue for me. No reduction on cost even although staying 11 nights - hotel offered reduced fees for multiple breakfasts.
Staff were fantastic- very friendly and helpful. Location was great, right on the waterfront and near promenade and restaurants. Room was great with patio onto the garden/pools.

Great hotel! Huge pools, very well heated indoor pool. Plenty of sunbeds all around. Great breakfast buffet. Truly 5 stars service from every employee. Excellent location and access to Savoy Palace. Ground area is very well protected from the winds so you can enjoy sun even on a windy day

United KingdomNot much. It would have been good to have a few more exercise classes and similar activities, as well as the chance to try padel, perhaps with coaching (it's a game for 4 and we were a couple).
Fabulous hotel with beautiful decor in both public areas and the room and spectacular location on the sea. Wonderful outdoor area with pools and lovely gardens. The interior design was especially nice, with a feeling of intimacy in many areas, which is difficult to achieve in a large hotel. Plenty of things put on with live music, pilates, yoga etc. Excellent facilities including library, panel court, gym, indoor swimming pool and the staff were unfailing courteous, pleasant and made a fabulous hotel exceptional.

United KingdomThe menus at the hotels bars and restaurant contain many fish dishes. fantastic news for some but for those with a fish intolerance is not so good. I was only able to have one meal at the hotel other than breakfast, however there are many great restaurant's close by. Some of the taxi drivers seem to forget to put the meter on, watch out for this. from Funchal to the hotel should be 4 to 5 euros. several times we we asked for 7 or more euros. when challenged the price dropped to 5 euro.
buffet breakfast had a wide selection to put on ones plate. all of a high quality. a walk into Funchal town is 15 mins or so, a taxi is around 5 euro. views were outstanding from our room and the sound of the sea lulled us to sleep. The staff very friendly as were all locals we encountered. Numerous restaurants close by for those looking for more choice than that the hotel offers. we will certainly be returning and are kicking ourselves for not finding this hotel earlier.

United StatesOur room, a deluxe suite was large and comfortable, but I would say that the room was not quite 5 star, as some of the furnishing were a little worn.
It is right on the ocean and the closest major seaside hotel to the downtown area. The pools and oceanfront are very nice. The decor in the hotel is very nice with impressive art everywhere.

United KingdomDidn’t like having to pay €12 per day for parking. Didn’t love the sunbeds.
Spacious, clean, luxurious and well maintained. We loved our suite. The pool area was nice enough without being exceptional. We found the sunbeds not the most comfortable although they were ok. Breakfast was good.
