Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Stateslocation and questionable quality of the balcony doors, allowing small bugs in
very far up a hill, have to be willing to taxi or hike up the two miles from the main areas, not centrally located but clean enough. some small fly like bugs in the room and the hallways had an odd smell

FinlandThe room didnt have any soundproofing you could hear from upstairs if somebody was at the lounge downstairs. Also the roof of the shower was very moldy. I dont mind these things but if its 50€ for a night there is alot better places to go so i would recommend putting the price a bit lower i would say 30€ a night i could pay for that.
I liked it was close to the airport and the breakfast was good!

PolandWhat I would improve: - better air circulation and anti-mosquito net, when we were leaving the room we sometimes were leaving the window open - staff of the hotel was closing it (I guess there was reason for that) but because of it the room lack fresh air and you can feel some humidity smell - some utensils like glasses, perfectly - little fridge. We used glasses for toothbrushing to drink ;) - some renovation of bathroom would be nice - beds could be more comfortable, I would give them 5/10 - if you rent a car - remember to take full insurance, someone actually hit my car while it was parked on the private parking in front of the hotel and there is no cameras so you can have hard time proving anything later on
Close to airport (still on foot is around 1h walking, please pay attention how Google maps marks an airport, usually it makes it wrong and it shows only 20 min). It has big (for Madeira standard) and flat parking - you will appreciate this if you decide to rent a car. Good value for money, even though it is close to airport - it is relatively quiet there. In our room was a fan, which you could use on very hot weather.

PolandThe carpet could be change, cause there were some weird stains. However, it wasn't a big problem, we walked in flip-flops all the time. There were also stains on the ceiling (I guess dead mosquitoes?)
It was very cheap so I didn't expect too much. We stayed for the whole week. The cleaning lady comes every day (making beds, vacuuming, taking the rubbish out, cleaning the bathroom), but you can always say that you don't want the cleaning that day and it's okay. To get to the airport, it took us 30 minutes because you have to go around the airport (there is a pavement next to the highway). So I guess, if you want to walk from the airport to the hotel, it will be longer because you will go uphill. We had a kind of tarrace/balcony and we could watch the planes taking off and landing. The view was really beautiful. It wasn't so noisy, even though the airport was pretty close. The staff was really nice and helpful. In general, it looks like a grandma's place. If you want to stay longer, you need to rent a car or a scooter because it would be diificult to travel around the island (there isn't really any bus stop nearby and I wouldn't recommend bolt), plus the hotel is uphill). We rented a scooter and it was perfect.

GermanyStill taking into consideration that this place is respectively cheap compared to the others available on the island - breakfast was tasty but a bit limited to us. The food wasn't very varied, especially if you are vegetarian/vegan. No vegetables or fruits - but also remember, it costs only 5 Euros - don't open windows while the light is on in the room, there are mosquitos or other flies entering the room
The money you pay for the room is fair for what you get. - great view from the room - perfect for budget travels - the room is cleaned every day - this place is great for a short stay since there are not many attractions around. Different story if you already have a car so you can park in front of it and also commute to your points of destination. -even tho the airport is pretty close there is not much noise which can disturb your sleep.

United KingdomElectrics seemed connected so couldn't have a fan on without the light being on. Not overly clean or too comfortable, but this is to be expected because of the price.
Close to the airport, bar and breakfast area was nice as well as breakfast being a good size. Very friendly staff, we came late (at 1am) because of our flight but were still greeted when we arrived.

United KingdomI didn't mind personally but it's a very harsh walk from the main drags, up a hill that's 30 degrees in places! Not accessible by foot for anyone not confident in their ability to trek. The bar/restaurant is now closed and there isn't a great deal in the immediate vicinity, save for a small cafe and tiny mini-market 300 yards down the hill.
Great views from the south-facing rooms. Good-sized room with decent balcony and bathroom. Quite rustic. Free car-park. Owner seems to live on-site and so is always available.

RomaniaThe walking distance from the airport to the location is not 20 minutes as advertised by google maps, but in fact 55 minutes - this is not the Motel's fault, but it's an important insight. There were a few spider webs by the balcony door and on the hallway, but no other bugs or mosquitoes. A vending machine would be very useful - we arrived there at night and could have used a snack or a beverage.
The mattresses were actually new and comfortable and there were no bugs (as we read in other reviews). The bathroom was old, but clean. It is the closest accommodation to the airport and has a non stop reception. We prepared ourselves for worse, so it was not bad considering we arrived after midnight and checked out early at 8.

United StatesThe place smelled really bad (moldy), there was a roach in the shower, beds and bed sheets were very uncomfortable and the room was very outdated and well taken cared of.
Only good thing about this place is that it wasn’t too far from the airport but still not within walking distance, especially if you have heavy bags. There are too many hills/steep streets to get to it.
