Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

BulgariaBathroom was small, but usable for average weight person. Apart from this next to the shower has small open cable box, which is not isolated, so maybe it is good idea to check this for health and safety reasons. Fresh coat of paint is a must in comunal areas.
The cleaning staff was very helpful and always smiley!!! ( this is what I liked most 🙂). However, the location of the hotel is great (2-3 mins walk from Rossio metro station). Good size single room. The bed and pillows was very comfy, sheets was white and clean, and the window shutters make such a difference in terms of light and sound comming from outside. My room was cleaned every day, thanks for the lovely lady there (regret I dont asked for her name).

LuxembourgShady environment around the property, interphone not working, we had to wait into the rain, owner hang up on us when we tried to call to get someone to open the door. Loud until very late, difficult to sleep but luckily no bed bugs for us.

United KingdomEntering the hotel is a little bir challenging. They did not receive the phones and the door. I was able to enter into building through another guest. Cleaner tried to help me to find out which room is mine but she did not know english. There is no receptionist so I had to wait for the answer of the contact point whoever cleaner was talking. After half an hour-1 hour, I could learn my room.
Location is in the heart of the city. Room was clean. I thought the street was dodgy at first glance but it was safe.

IndiaWi-Fi was terrible in the room, better near the reception area but that's pointless. Saw a lot of people struggle to get into the building or waited hours to be checked in. We luckily had another resident who let us in and someone was there to check us in. What I don't understand is that if it is just a bunch of codes on two doors, why not share it on the Booking.com chat beforehand so that at least people can enter the building and sit in the waiting area rather than on the street or on the steps?
Great location, facilities were good. The staff was kind and friendly. The room was clean and the daily room maintenance was good.

United StatesWe stayed for a week, but got the room we booked only after 2 nights staying in two different rooms that were not acceptable. Check-in was very difficult. Did not have instructions or the code to the building. Maria was rude and not helpful. I saw people coming and standing by the front door, having the same problem. Cleaning lady was really nice though. Also, location is very convenient.

CanadaMusty smell upon entering due to a one metre square hole in reception area with water coming from pipes. Carpets should be replaced. Sat on my suitcase in reception area as chair was not clean. After initial check in, no one around to provide any info.
Hotel is in great location but street area can be intimidating. Exterior didn’t look great but our room was basic and clean.

BelgiumThe bathroom was in a shambles: tiny shower with traces of mould on the doors, the shower head was impossible to keep in the right position, the towel rail came off when you took a towel and finally, the toilet bowl wasn't even fixed to the floor, which made the experience shaky, even dangerous. The beds for the children were nice but one of the aldult one was unconfortable and gave us backpain.

United KingdomOutside the property it doesn’t look safe and full of rubbish.We came early on our first day the staff said we can leave our bag because they will still clean the room we came back at around 4pm and no staff to accommodate us we have waited for almost 2 hours before somebody turn up and we spoke to other guests they have the same problem with is I would like to speak to somebody about it maybe the owner or manager but staff keep saying they don’t speak English so i don’t know why they accommodate English speaking guests if nobody will understand if customers will have a request while they are in the property no staff in the night if ever you have concerns to ask they come at maybe 9am not sure.

SwedenWifi didn't work since we came untill we left. I believe they tried to fix it once I informed them in sms the first evening since there was some noice in the corridor, but then communication about this issue died from the hostel's side when I mentioned next day that it still didn't work. Receptionist speaking not very good english was at place only when new guest expected to come. We were lucky but saw other guests waiting quite a while so make sure you come at the time you said you would come.

NetherlandsOther than the location, I would not really recommend this place. The “hotel” is inside a building where other people live. We couldn’t even find it at first as there was only a small sign with the name of the hotel on it. And apparently it was a self check in but we didn’t get any messages with information. The outside door of the building and the door to the rooms had a code, so we were standing outside for like half an hour until someone who lives there opened the door. I tried calling them and messaging them, and they answered after half an hour. We even met another group waiting to check in the next day that had the same problem as us, they also didn’t get any message with check in information. The room didn’t look like the photos at all and was really small. They even woke us up one day at like 9:00 so we pay the city tax, and it had to be in cash. The handle to the shower was even broken but we managed to get it to stay upright to shower.
The location was really close to Praça do comercio and other attractions. And it was pretty clean.

MoroccoI have two main issues: first, the room wasn't cleaned enough by the person in charge (we found some dirt on the bed even if they came to clean), and second, we kept getting knocks on the door every morning or during the day, sometimes by the person in charge. It felt like there was no respect for privacy, and I didn't like it at all.

HungaryI have stayed in this hotel three times in the past seven years. a lot has changed. first of all: there used to be a receptionist. this is now very much missed, as it is difficult to communicate with the owners on the phone and in booking messages. I have booked a room here twice now, first for 3 nights, then for one night (I went to Porto in the meantime.). I had completely different experiences. I got a cell for the first three nights. there was no heating. there was no space. there was a narrow bed in the room. no other. no closet, no hanger, nothing to put clothes. I had a cold for three days. the second time I got a better room. but there is no glass or hair dryer in any of the rooms, although this would be expected for the price. However, the hotel is in a very good location. and the cleaning ladies are very kind
