Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The owners were really nice and welcoming. Breakfast was good value for money. Excellent location too.

South AfricaVery loud young people party outside until all hours of the morning. Perhaps include more plugs / hooks for hanging wet clothes to dry and more toilet paper. Perhaps also have coffee and tea downstairs through out the day. Would be great.

ArmeniaI liked the location, it was in the very center of Porto. There are many restaurants, bars and cafes around, as well as a mini market. All the central destinations are like 10-15 mins walk away from the hotel. The staff was super friendly. The room was average.

DenmarkThe Guest House is in a central location, great for sightseeing and getting around. However it is also a lively location. So if you have difficulties in sleeping, ask to have a room away from the square

United KingdomSaturday night is definitely noisy outside this hotel, as there are a few bars nearby with outside tables and a fairly young clientele. We could even hear it from our room at the back. But it was just people having fun and it finished by midnight so we weren't that bothered.
Really friendly staff, very smiley. Great breakfast every day with coffee, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, rolls, home-made jam, honey and membrillo. We had to leave extra early on our last day but they provided breakfast for us which we really appreciated. It felt like a traditional Portuguese hotel. Excellent central location. Clean room and comfortable bed. Would stay here again if we come back to Porto.

CanadaThe wifi in my room was a bit temperamental but this wasn’t a game changer for me. I had access to cellular plus the wifi in the breakfast room worked great.
The location was perfect- near the university and slightly off the beaten tourist path but an easy walk to tourist attractions. There were lots of restaurants and cafes close by. My room was exactly as pictured. I loved the hostess. Breakfasts were simple but filling - fresh fruit, buns with meat and cheese, local jams and honey and of course coffee.

United StatesLike everyone has said already, it gets loud at night outside with everyone gathering outside around the building, I was still able to sleep and didn’t mind it since they have an extra protector over the window for noise.
Location and excellent host. As a solo female traveler I felt safe and cared for with nightlife right next door. The light breakfast was great for starting the day and everything was super neat and tidy.

United KingdomThe TV screen in the room was a bit on the small side. There was a mysterious leak in the bathroom which came up after every shower.
The location was very central and we hardly ever needed to use public transport. The owner was friendly and helpful. We could leave our luggage at the guest house after check out time (our flight back was in the evening). It was easy to get back in to the guest house in the evenings. The owner was always there. TV channels in English were available and easy to use. On arrival the owner gave us two choices of which room we would prefer. We picked the room at the back of the house as the owner said it would be quieter - which it was.
