Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesDragging my suitcase through the gravel wasn’t my favorite. I got stung by a Yellowjacket on the porch one morning :( Otherwise it’s so lovely and really special.
My cottage was on the far end by the pool so it felt like I had the place to myself. The pool is warm and lovely at any time of day or evening. Between the pine and the other plants and trees, it smells lovely all the time on the property. Nice to be able to walk to dinner, lunch or coffee. Lots of places close.

NetherlandsWe have had a delightful stay with only positive experiences. Our cabin was pleasant, with a nicely equipped kitchen, good beds, and a very nice shower. Around the cabin is a garden that is maintained well, with a vegetable patch, and a fish and tortoise pond. The pool was the highlight for our kids and us, it is heated to a temperature that makes it possible to swim early morning and evening, but still refreshing enough during the day. Around the area are beautiful beaches, castles and enough restaurants. Lisbon is a 45 minute drive. Praia do Meco is a recomendation, as well as Sesimbra for a nice beach day (during the week!) We normally have the habit of vacationing somewhere else every holiday, but this is the first time we agreed to go back!

SpainAlthough close to perfection, the combined bedroom/kitchenette was a bit small for us personally as we like to have space to move around. The bathroom and terrace were perfect though, also in terms of size
The location was superb; like an oasis of green right in the middle of the Meco village, next to the restaurants and at walking distance from some of the beaches. We were impressed with the ambience and the love and details with which everything was set-up. Rita was just lovely and a perfect host and we are already looking forward to coming back!

A piece of paradise in the middle of the village. Honestly the pictures don’t do it justice. Lush garden, salt water heated pool, everything is taken care of down to the last detail. Our room was very clean and comfortable; we had everything we needed. Last but not least Rita is a perfect host: kind, discreet, friendly and helpful.

GermanyWe were disappointed with the lack of decoration in the bungalow. In addition, the ceiling was uncomfortably low, which was an issue even for us, though my husband, the tallest in our group, is only 1.84m. He bumped his head twice. If you're taller than 1.90m, I would recommend choosing a different accommodation, as the bungalow isn't suited for taller individuals. The space inside the bungalow is very limited. It can technically accommodate four people for a couple of days, but any longer than that would be stressful. There isn’t enough room to have the table set up and still have space to sleep comfortably. We had to either constantly build and dismantle the table or eat outside. However, the outside table was not very clean, with spider nests under the chairs and around the area. The air conditioner was another major issue. It made so much noise that we couldn’t sleep. We reported this to the staff, and while they apologized and tried to help, they couldn’t get anyone to fix it during the weekend. They offered a portable air conditioner, but in such a small space, that wasn't a feasible solution, especially since it meant keeping the door open all night, which would let insects in. No compensation was offered although it was impossible to sleep properly. Given that we paid €240 per night, I expected more. The noisy air conditioner significantly impacted our stay, and merely apologizing wasn’t enough in my opinion. We had to keep turning it off and on throughout the night to manage the noise, which wasn’t a restful experience. The swimming pool was made from a black material that left our bodies covered in black stains. We could clean it when showering but I don’t think it should happens. The staff explained that this was due to the pool’s age. They do use a robot to help with this, but it operates while you’re swimming, which is not ideal. Lastly, the lack of consideration from other guests was frustrating.
The place was spotless, and we were pleased to find that towels were provided for the swimming pool. It was also a nice touch to have a clothes hanger available, which is something often overlooked at other places with pools. My child had a wonderful time in the swimming pool. Additionally, there were excellent restaurants just a few meters from the house, making dining out very convenient. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything needed for basic cooking, and the staff was very friendly.

NetherlandsThe property is less than 100 meters from a 4 G (and soon or now) 5 G UMTS tower! We were horrified. There is much research proven the cancerous effects and other dangers of being close to a UMTS tower. We were not informed of this serious health hazard. Being sensitive people we suffered from the radiation/frequency emmitted from the tower. It got worse, the house we had booked -being the only one that we liked because it had privacy was so small that i could not stand up straight anywhere in the house or balcony! Again we were not informed that this house was only for people around a maximum of 1.85. Then we had to move house to a shared building , and the beds were very hard. We slept very badly also from the beds. All in all it was awful. We do not understand why the nice hostess does not tell people the house is only for small people, and that there is a UMTS tower less than 50 meters from the front gate, and less than 500 meters from the houses. European standards state that 400 meters is a minimum distance, and that within 400 meters the incidence of for instance cancer is more than 100 times higher than elsewhere. So, you have an obligation as hosts to inform people of the umts mast as well as that the house was for small people only. If the other houses had not been available we would have had an even worse stay unable to stand straight anywhere.
