I had a fantastic Azores experience at Quinta da Abelheira – an exquisite hotel with a stylish decoration – located on the hills in the suburbs of Ponta Delgada. The breakfast terrasse offered a stunning view over the city – a great way to start the day. The hotel featured a garden and a pleasant pool experience – a perfect way to chill out – with or without a drink from the pool bar. I loved the living room area as well – very stylish and cozy, offering fruit, snacks and tea in the afternoon. My room was spacious and spotless, with great décor and comfortable bed with soft pillows. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a huge variety of local delicacies and fresh juices! The staff were very attentive. I would like to send my special thanks to the receptionist – Filipa Nunes who ensured that I felt comfortable throughout my entire stay – and took care of all my requests with great professionalism. I felt like a Princess there – and I will definitely go back.

The only disappointment was the sound of traffic so I suggest accommodation away from the road.

It was a large property on the outskirts of Ponta Delgada. You must have a car. The property is like a calm oasis with a large heated pool which is a wonderful place to relax after a busy day of hiking or sightseeing. The property is well looked after and it scales the side of a hill so that where you have breakfast is on a patio above where the rooms are located and with a view out over an industrial area to the sea. The breakfast is fantastic offering a wonderful array of fruit, granola, yogurt, eggs, breads, croissants etc etc. It is amazing. The hotel offers different types of rooms. We were in the Guest House which borders a busy road but with the window closed and the AC on it is quite quiet.

The booking was pricey, probably because it was during the high season. In general Sao Miguel is crowded with tourists in August, and the price level is high.

We booked a suite with garden view. The suite was super spacious, with modern, high end styling. The complex is charming and rich with vegetation. The warm water swimming pool was just outside the room, and had a nice bar, for drinks and light dinner. The staff is super friendly, and highly knowledgeable about traveling in the island. Breakfast was served on the high level of the complex, and was excellent, with a variety of pastries, cheeses and fruits.

For the price, the rooms were okay. No views. The driveway up to the room was very difficult.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating! There was a private Miradouro with beautiful views of the city! Overall we had a wonderful experience.

Great breakfast, beautiful setting. Not in Ponta delgada town but only a 5 minute drive away and we spent a few nights in the town itself already so didnt need to be close. Lovely staff who treated our 2 children (age 3 and 1) very kindly and let them play with the property's 3 cats! Heated pool, very clean

I honestly can't think of anything. Maybe we could have used a bigger table to eat in the room. But even that was not an issue.

Filipa & Marlene went far beyond our expected hospitality. They are amazing and the nicest hosts you could ask for. The rest of the staff was also super friendly and courteous.

Our stay was exceptional at the Quinta da abelheira! We were traveling with two families and ten people spread across a number of rooms. From the time we stepped foot on the property Filipa and Marlene were exceptional and always there if we needed anthing. Filipa helped rearrange rooms to acccomodate proximity to children and made us feel extremely welcome. She also provided tremendous help in planning out our day, helping get a taxi, and answering any questions we had. The property is really nice, swimming pool and pool bar very relaxing and an exception breakfast. Great spot to get into town (~10 min car ride) and out on a days adventure. Would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a place to stay in Sao Miguel.

My only ‘complaint’ is that the beds were a little hard. But I had heard that beds are harder in Portugal so was not surprised.

This resort was beautiful! I loved its location to Ponta Delgata without being in the city. Its location made it easy to get to anywhere on the island and into the city for dinner. The staff were all SOOOO NICE and helpful. The breakfast every morning was amazing and different every day. I cannot say enough good things about it!

Nothing to point out.

On the morning of my check-out, I was the only guest at the Quinta. However, the breakfast was as big and as vast as I had seen in the photos, I got to try a bit of everything and it was all delicious (the Azorean cheeses are very tasty). Even though I had a late check-in, the front desk staff was very friendly and, on my check-out day, they allowed me to use to use the common areas up until I had to go to the airport for my flight.

Our room was wonderful. Spacious, excellent bathroom and shower, very nicely decorated, comfy bed, great view, sitting place outside. The staff are really friendly. The breakfast was EXCELLENT. Location is perfect if you, like us, don't like staying in city hotels but like being close enough to take advantage of the city.

We had a very late check-in (10PM) but were denied a late checkout request because someone already staying at the property was allegedly moving into our room that day. When we came to collect our stored luggage at 3PM, the room key we turned in at 9AM was still hanging on the hook in the reception office.

My only constrictive comment is that they should consider having a safe and a mini fridge in the room. A little table on the terrace may be worth considering.

Water in the room is not regularly added. Too far from the city center. It's possible to drive only because the working option is not safe (a lot of angry dogs by the way)
