Bathroom light didn't work ... but small issue

Family of 4, stayed for one night, spent the morning in Porto civo and afternoon in vila de Nova milfontes. I would recommend a 3 night stay to get the most of it. The surrounding area is lovely for days out Accommodation is clean and spacious. We have an apartment with a terrace and rover view, and it was lovely. It's a very tranquil and lovely, peaceful evening after spending the day exploring. Kitchen facilities include kettle, toaster, and hob. We enjoyed local meats, olives, etc, on the terrace

Apparently, this place was nice and even fancy 10 years ago. Now everything is outdated. The bed (at least one of them) was extremely uncomfortable and made noise with every move. We didn't even find matches in the room, so we couldn't use the gas stove to prepare dinner and breakfast.

Our house was really huge. Children liked the swimming pool.

We missed air-conditioning as we had to keep windows closed due to mosquitos, even just an electric fan would have been helpful.

Furniture is quite dated and worn out. Last 2km stretch is a dusty, unpaved access road.

Check in was a bit weird. You have to check in in the hotel.which is in the centre of VN de Mil. We didnt feel like driver into the village. Because we arrived during day time. We could go directly to the apartments. Check in after 16 is late. If you only stay one night.

Our stay here was wonderful. We were lucky to have beautiful weather, so took advantage of our sunny verandah on the water's edge from morning to night. Our apartment was clean and well equipped for self catering, but the hotel is near enough town for shops and restaurants too. We had the place to ourselves (it being midweek in early March), so it was very peaceful and tranquil. We did not use the swimming pool or courtesy bar, and as it is low season, breakfast was not provided. The gardens and lagoon are lovely. Parking is easy and convenient. Daily cleaning was provided if wanted. We would definitely return to this hotel.

Unfortunately, we made the mistake of going to the hotel first, thinking that we could book directly at the hotel. We were very wrong. Firstly, the reception is closed, and secondly, you need to collect the room key from another hotel which is a 12 minute drive from this one. Of course, if I had prebooked the hotel then I could have received the message first informing me of this. However, it is the first experience I have where you need to collect the room key in another hotel. I wish they would have inform clients about this on the booking.com website. Also, on the same page, it states that the check in is only until around 20:30, however this is not true, as the reception in the other hotel informed me that they’re open 24 hours. In summary, I found the lack of information a little bit annoying. Take note to also take care that the short road leading to the hotel is off road.

The location is breathtaking, as are the views from the rooms. The receptionist who checked us in (apologies that I didn’t ask for your name) was a really lovely, friendly lady with dark brown hair, who spoke perfect English. You were really kind to us and helped us to look at alternative options to stay in your other hotel. The bed was so comfortable, we both had a great night sleep! Other great points include the shower, it was easy to put the temperature exactly how we wanted it, there was plenty of outside space and you felt really secluded and peaceful, I also liked that they put in the room instructions on how to fix the TV when you loose signal, this saves having to call reception to fix the problem, and finally, the whole interior of the room matched perfectly with the feel of the hotel, within nature.

4 p.m. is a little too late for a check-in. Also, a house that has so much water nearby is obviously surrounded by mosquitoes at night, so it's a real shame that there were no windows with protective net. We had to sleep with everything closed because of that, and it gets really hot inside.

The little house was really cozy and well equipped, the staff is nice and you have plenty of beaches nearby to visit.
