The location and setting - with wonderful views - were fantsatic. The rooms were lovely and spacious and the entire facililty was beautiful. We also thought the breakfast was spectacular. I will say there was a particular odor in one room, and a musty smell in another room. But they were very clean. Perhaps that is becuase it's a very old building. It was so much fun staying in a pousada. We loved it!

Hotel is high so if you walk down it's a long way back up. All paths and roads are cobbles and are slippery when wet. Parking is shared with the castle which is open to rhe public so parking can be tight. Ignore the old man who tries to charge for parking as he's a local who has been at this for years, parking is free.

Good location set within a castle on top of a hill overlooking the town. Good rooms which are large and same old style as all pousada's, good breakfast and bar but can't coment on the evening meal as we didn't eat there of a night.

Hotel parking can be busy as it fills up for the castle visitors, ignore the old man trying to charge you for parking as he's trying it on. Hotel is on top of a steep hill so if your walking down to the town please bear in mind the walk back up. Cobbles can slippery when wet as all roads and paths are made of cobbles

Hotel is stunning sitting on the top of a hill overlooking the town, in the castle grounds. Breakfast good as in any pousada. Didn't eat dinner so can't coment. Staff where all good and recommended to any body wanting to stay.

Incredible views from this historic location. Despite the age of the castle grounds, the Pousada is up-t0-date and modern. Room was large and comfortable. And parking, thank goodness, was easy and open.

Great location, amazing view and very beautiful garden around with nice pool. The owners was so kind and helpful. Totally recommend have a glass of Porto vine that they produce.

Unfortunately our room 213 was right beside a staff lift shaft and when it was in use it was really noisy.

Beautiful building, fabulously comfortable bed and the views are just amazing. Ana on reception was a delight to deal with.

Had to work to find bar staff each time wanted coffee/drink.

Quiet location with friendly staff. Music recital in church which staff told us about - enjoyable. Good meal in restaurant.

There were no one in the bar to serve us. The receptionist had to come and help us!

Very quiet, comfortable, clean. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The views are spectacular. Staff is wonderful. (Special shout out to Ana. She was the one we saw most of the time. Very friendly, very professional. I love how enthusiastic she was about the Castelo and the hotel property. She always made time to answer our questions and give recommendations.) Breakfast- in a word- FANTASTIC. Everything was fresh and delicious. The man who set up the buffet and tended the area was very nice and always made sure it was clean and stocked.

Views are magnificent. At my request, staff provided a special surprise birthday cake for my husband at dinner. They were extremely gracious with the cake planning process and made a fun time of the presentation at the table.

The dinner didn’t deliver…what the menu described and what arrived didn’t match Couldn’t get the wand to work in the shower and there wasn’t a stopper for the tub

The Reception from the young lady in charge was exceptional so personal and so welcoming. The facilities are amazing and the site is seepedin history. Truly excellent!!!!
