Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only thing that could have been better is that we had been able to stay an additional night or two! I can't think of a single thing that needed improvement! Wonderful hotel.
The Portugal Boutique Hotel is one of my favorite hotels. The staff were friendly and accommodating and went out of the way to make us feel welcome. Each night we had a tray of treats waiting for us. One night they provided a small bottle of Ginjinha, the most iconic drink of Lisbon, dating back to the 13th century. On our last evening, we had a lovely, personalized note thanking us for our stay. The room was spacious and quiet - the wonderful shutters helped to keep it quiet and dark (we actually overslept the first morning it was so comfortable). The bathroom was outstanding with both a shower and a bathtub. Breakfast was superb, with many choices (and oh that fabulous orange juice), which you could enjoy either inside or outside on their terrace (which we did). I could not have asked for a better location. It was within walking distance of all that we wanted to see. If we ever find ourselves in Lisbon again, we will absolutely stay here again Thank you for a wonderful few days and nights!

United KingdomFor my wife and I, the best experience was Hotel during our visit and most definitely one of the best hotels we have stayed in. All staff members were excellent but 3 stood out to us the most: Carlos, works as a manager for the breakfast service and was incredible. He would always greet us well and go the extra mile to make sure we were well looked after. He made us feel like family and each time we saw him it was a delight to interact and learn about the Portuguese culture. In addition, we were doing a trip to Sintra where we saw one of the breakfast team staff members on the train (I wish we had taken his name for this review). They could have easily ignored us but it was clear the level of respect they had for themselves and their job that they smiled and greeted us on the train when they didn't have to. João, the Hotel Manager was great too. The hotel offer a view of their wine cellar and you can try their hotel made wines too. We was under the impression that the experience would be around 30-45 mins long but my wife and I had such a great experience with João and with his teachings of Portuguese wines and culture that we was there for over 2 hours. It was a great experience and with creating this great relationship with João, João and the team would always go the extra mile to come talk and just share great learnings with us. We appreciate that for some people, a Hotel may just be a place of sleep but in honesty the experience here was more than that for us. Everyone was truly great and just being able to interact with the staff on a more personal level, you do really get to experience more than just place to sleep. Great Hotel, great team and great experience (also, in a great location too).

AustraliaThe hotel was a real find in Lisbon. The rooms were spacious, beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The breakfast spread was simple but delicious and plentiful and the staff very accommodating. The hotel's location was excellent and as out room faced the interior courtyard, was very quiet. Access to the sister hotel's rooftop bar was a bonus as it has excellent views of Lisbon and the amazing sunsets. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. The hotel manager made our group feel very special by inviting us to a private wine tasting. The reception staff were very knowledgeable about the city. One example staff of going above and beyond was when we advised them of our very early departure, they had breakfast packs ready for our party of eight and also switched on the coffee machine early to offer us coffees before we left.

United StatesNoisy - downside is that you can hear the underground rumble noise of the transit train all night long . Sleep was an issue for us due to city noise and the train.
Great location to see many Lisbon sites by foot or take a trolley , bus, underground train. Very good buffet breakfast. The hotel is modern and staff are wonderful. Beds are comfy.

United KingdomNo negative feedback that I can think of.
Very centrally located - Martim Moniz for Tram 28E, Praca da Figueira - for tram 15E to Belem, Rossio - for day trip coaches - all within 5 minutes walk. Staff were excellent - very patient and articulate. Special mention for Alexandra, Joao, Anonessa, Mariana and the Brazilian guy in the ground floor Bar - they always seemed to go the extra mile to make you comfortable. There is a welcome drink on arrival, a Ginjinha drink on the first evening and another Port drink on the last evening before departure - all complimentary! Breakfast was good. Taxi from the airport took €20 - and the driver insisted on cash - so you may want to keep some cash with you or else there’s also a cash machine nearby. Went to the rooftop bar on the last evening- it had good vibes and a very good view of the Castle specially during dusk and when the lights came on.
