The staff from the time of check in and throughout the whole stay were superb , the grounds, gardens were clean and well maintained, the pools were great with plenty of loungers for everyone. Breakfast and dinner was very good a good variety for everyone.

Everything was good, rooms are bit old, but very clean.

Very nice hotel, breakfast was good, room was big and very well cleaned every day, we rented a car and could always find parking place, nice and big territory, clean swimming pool, not so far from Funchal city centre (30-40 min walking). A lot of nice restaurants outside.

The hotel room was large with a beautiful view overlooking the sea and spotlessly clean with a modern decor. The food offers a number of restaurants with the main one offering a buffet for breakfast and evening meal. For both there was cooked options with a wide range of dishes the whole time we were there. The pool and surrounding area are very well maintained with beautiful gardens, along with there being the option for drinks and lighter food. The staff are very helpful and courteous and happy to help at all times

It's a bit far out of the main city centre. There is a bus outside which is convenient for a short ride to the marina but they are not that frequent later in the evening so we got caught waiting nearly an hour. Taxis are reasonable price at around 8 to 9 euros to the old town if you don't want to wait for the bus.

Beautiful peaceful gardens and lovely big pool. Huge comfortable room with a balcony and sea view. Spa was lovely and gym well equipped. Friendly helpful staff. Selection of very good quality restaurants.

The majority of staff were surprisingly unfriendly and unhelpful. One particular woman at reception told us there was no free parking when there in fact was and gave us the most expensive option to park telling us that was the most reasonable when it wasn’t. Waiters didn’t point you to a table so you’re left standing unsure what to do and if you sit at one without being told you are given out to.

The staff make this place, and also it is a great hotel, we had to stay at another hotel with was rated as a 5 star as we were delayed coming home. Porto Mare - PortoBay was a 100% better

We would have liked a bit more information regarding the lunch situation. We were full board expecting a buffet option, but were restricted to 17 € per day at the pool bar or a la carte, which wasn't made clear. There was evening entertainment, but the notice boards weren't clear on where and when it was happening. The hotel was part of 3 conjoined hotels which did mean that you could get lost in the early days of your stay. Happy hour needs to be longer 😎

Good looking hotel. Plenty of space. Swimming pool a good size and freshwater. Plenty of sun beds. We had a large room that came with an extended balcony so plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Staff were all very nice and the food/restaurant was excellent.

The hotel offers lovely garden and pool areas! We had a sea view room with breakfast included - this was perfect. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - our flight got cancelled and we added on an extra two nights - the hotel sorted this out v quickly for us, which helped reduce the stress in this situation! We had a fantastic stay and would recommend the hotel to friends and family!

Beautiful resort hotel with fantastic facilities. Spacious rooms with very comfy beds and large balconies. Robes, pool towels and slippers provided in the rooms.
