We booked here to relax after a few big days of hiking and it absolutely delivered what we were hoping it would. Great facilities, had more than we hoped for. Staff were super friendly and helpful, we were leaving very early in the morning for a few day trips and were able to order a breakfast "packed lunch" bag that was delivered to our room the night before which was a really nice touch.

No proper parking next to hotel and no service to make the parking easier and appropriate.I have to pay to park my car per hour and even when we sleep at night. They have another parking for free but it is extremely difficult to reach and to use. Also, we did get even one water bottle after the first day as every other hotel. Over it is manage to maximise profit and minimise service

One minus,that they had very small free parking lot, and it was quite inconveinience to park there, as there downhill and very small spots.

Everything was perfect,room was clean, we got room in the highest floor so view was amazing. Reception very helphul with all quastions. It was our honeymoon so we got champagne in room,and after long flight it was so deligtfull to sit in the balkon and absorb the view. The breakfast- most delicious we had in few years of staying in hotels. Pools very clean, there always a person to accomondate if you need and umbrella or anything else. To sum up,place in the city,reception,food was on the spot.

With Bay view rooms you get side view of the ocean, not exactly what I expected. The ocean view from the balcony was restricted, plus you get the noise from the street and the surrounding restaurant well after 10:30 pm. Also, the finishing of the rooms felt a little dated e.g. lack of usb outlets, also pillows were not so comfortable in some beds.

Breakfast has some room for improvement regarding versatility. On the breakfast terrace were no umbrellas which was limiting the seats outside since it is not possible to have breakfast on the sun. Sea beach personnel is very understaffed. Sometimes we had to wait 30 minutes for an umbrella under heating sun.

Very beautiful territory of the hotel, very close to the city center. Good food, very clean, friendly staff. A big offer of leisure activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, mini golf etc. Private beach is a great perk!

Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't very strong. I do like my room to be ultra cool so maybe it was working ok for most people but not for me

Booked a standard room with Pool View but also had a great sea view too. The room was a decent size with a sofa as well as a balcony with 2 reclining chairs and foot stools. Also my pet hate is bad lighting making it difficult to apply makeup but this hotel had the best lighting and mirrors I've ever had anywhere in the world.

- Breakfast seemed very varied but not amazing quality. The ham and other meat didn't look fresh. It got very messy sometimes with lack of cutlery and some waiters were not very friendly. - Bedsheets seemed old and had small holes. - Sofa-bed quite uncomfortable. - The puffy chairs at the spa looked quite old and almost moldy? - For some mysterious reason, the hotel kept providing items for 3 guests even though we were 4 (and we mentioned it several times but nothing changed). We were very happy but we expected a bit more.

- Very clean and spacious room - Amazing location, close to the center of Funchal. - Free parking for the car. - People working at the reception are extremely friendly, helpful and caring. - Access to the sea was one of the best things! - So many swimming pools and things to do!

When ordering a room with sea view surcharge, you must specify / request a pool view (as in the photos ). Otherwise, for the same price, you will get an east facing room above the noisy road and a bar with a noisy feast until 11:30pm.

If you look behind the scenes, there are areas that could do with some shining up. The whole section by what used to be a tennis court is quite tired and the lift down to the sea-side pool was broken for some of the time we were there. Why on earth don't they fix the tennis court and make it useable instead of just being an eye-sore? We had planned to use the running machine while we were staying at the hotel, but they were both broken when we arrived and stayed that way throughout our eleven day stay, despite the reception staff assuring us on the first day that they would be fixed. Finally, please add some differentiated rubbish facilities in the hotel and by the pool. So many plastic bottles just ended up in the bin with all the other rubbish.

Despite being fifty years old the hotel is generally still in excellent condition. I assume there have been renovations over the years. The pool is lovely and the location is excellent with Funchal just a twenty minute walk away. It's great the area where you can swim in the sea is a small 'harbour', which offers much better protection from the waves than their neighbour hotels. For those (like my son) who are into Ronaldo, his house and museum are a ten minute walk away. The staff are incredible and simply cannot do enough for you - everyone from the reception staff, the waiters, the pool boys, the people that fix things and even the cleaners.

Staff was really polite and helpful. Reception staff went the extra mile to accomodate all the questions and requests. Special thanks to Carla. They accepted my request to surprise my sister since it was a birthday trip and they cooperated with me in an excellent way.

The water flow in the shower was a bit weak, possibly because our room was on the 17th floor, and the bathroom was somewhat outdated. For breakfast, when we arrived after 8 am, we always had to wait between 3 to 10 minutes to be seated. We did not have dinner included, but we purchased it once, and it was not a good value for the money. It's better to dine outside, where you can get a much better meal and service for the same price.

The hotel is large, with many facilities, and is located right next to the ocean, offering a fantastic view. The staff was very friendly and helpful, including assisting us with car rental. The room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast was delicious.

The free car park was difficult and with limited spots. The car park near the reception was paid. The elevator to the sea pool was not working. The rooms could be improved.
