One of the staff members, Marc, made us feel very uncomfortable during our stay. On multiple occasions he made inappropriate or insulting jokes and comments toward us and a few other guests. It was to the point where we were hesitant to leave our room on the evenings he was working the front desk. All the other staff were amazing though and very kind and accommodating, this was only an issue with Marc. Also not a great indoor common room at this place which is often needed because of how much it rains on the island.

The hostel was at a great location and very clean. The outside area was gorgeous and the morning breakfast was tasty although rather small. Almost all the staff were lovely, very accommodating and easy to get along with.

The crew did absolutely anything possible to assist us and make us feel home. The private room was very neat and has a door leads to a beautiful shared garden & pool. The hostel has a great location close to everything by walking. Recommended!

We believe we didn’t get the best room for a couple and the large couple bed was not delivered as promised (simply two single beds put together using sheets and covers for a double bed). The balcony of our room has no safety bars and the room is very close to a noisy common bathroom. Overall we feel we could have gotten a better value for money, considering that these 3 days were not exactly cheap when comparing to standard offers in the area.

The decorations are very smart and intelligent. The minimalist concept coped with good elegant choices, some out of the box, are surprisingly distinctive in this somehow different hostel concept. The garden is very nice, so is the restaurant next door. Breakfast was surprisingly different and very pleasant, specially when taken outside. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Greatest staff and perfect place for a great stay. I had a private room but every day I had the chance to connect with other travellers as they have a big table for breakfast and socialising. Same in the evening. Rooms are cleaned everyday, soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion provided. The also organise daily tours and guests could signup if they like.

A lot of thought has gone into the building. It was quirky and modern, very clean. The atmosphere was nice as there was a good mix of nationalities with a wide age range. It was quiet at night. Had a double en - suite room. The staff were all really pleasant and helpful. Good unusual breakfast, really enjoyed it.

However, our room left much to be desired. While it was adequate, the mattress was not very comfortable, and the absence of shelves made organizing our belongings a bit challenging. Moreover, the aggressive orange colour didn't quite resonate with us and felt out of place in the tranquil Azores setting. Overall Ambience: Out of the Blue hotel could benefit from a more natural and fresh aesthetic that aligns better with the laid-back Azores vibe. Basically, keeping the original subtle natural-brown colours suited the hotel better. That was one of the reasons why we've booked this hotel in the first place.

We stayed in the hotel for a week, and our experience was a mix of highs and lows . Location: The hotel's location was undoubtedly one of its best features. With everything conveniently close by, including shops, restaurants, and attractions, we found it easy to explore the city without hassle. Breakfast in the Garden: One highlight of our stay was enjoying breakfast in the hotel's garden. The serene atmosphere and delicious spread provided a lovely start to our mornings. Staff is amazing. Thank you for taking such a good care for us.

If I had to say something…. I missed having curtains 🤪

It’s hard to describe how amazing this place is. At the moment I arrived, I knew I chose the best hostel. The energy, the people, the staff… Everything made my experience unforgettable. 🫶 The hostel is very clean and cozy. The rooms are big and the bed sssoo comfortable, the garden it’s just amazing and the breakfast made my days start great. Also the garden is connected to the restaurant Taberna so you can just chill there having a drink or try the famous “patatas bravas”. The worst about this places is that it’s very hard to leave the hostel because you feel like at home. If I came back to São Miguel, I would definitely come back to Out of the Blue! Triple bunks so a little challenging to reach the top one. Breakfast usually served outdoors in the garden. It was raining so breakfast was in the restaurant next door - but no communication about this. Not a complaint, but I was several generations older than everyone there so felt a little out of place.

Central location. Friendly staff. I like the generous cubby next to your bed for your personal stuff at night. Good size bathroom in the room.

The only small thing I didn't like is that the gap between the bottom bed and the top one is really small. I'm a relatively small guy and I hit my head many times.

Out Of the Blue is such a nice hostel. The breakfast is different every day and it's generally beautifully looking and tasty. People from the staff are helpful and the bar has a happy hour and they serve amazing food. There are plenty of bathrooms and they are supplied with everything you need. The beds are done daily and they are really comfortable They organize group Tours and that's a nice way to get a view of the island and meet fellow travelers. Overall, hands down one of the nicest hostels I've been to..
