Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalBecause we have been staying at Herdade da Rocha for a couple of years now we noticed some changes. We used to have an obsession with the restaurant and the cooking of the chef that was there at the time. But now the restaurant serves a “fancier” menu and in my opinion it wasn’t as amazing as it used to be! It’s a bit overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food. The last chef used to come by the tables and talk with the guests and you could clearly see his passion for cooking. Also every other time we stayed at Herdade da Rocha at check out they would give us a bottle of their house wine and this time we didn’t had that offer. Those tiny details made this hotel one of our favourites ever and we didn’t see those details this time around!
It was my fourth time at Herdade da Rocha and it continues to be the perfect little escape from the city! It’s a beautiful place to relax, connect with the nature and the animals! The staff is amazing. They always take really good care of the guests, always with a smile on their faces. We did the wine tasting and the tour of the adega and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We stayed at the bungalow and I love that option because you have a tiny house with a proper living room, a bedroom and a bathroom and also a cute balcony. It was our fourth time but not our last for sure!

PortugalHotel was great and the food in the restaurant marvelous. Very delicious and typical from that region, Alentejo. Small pool yet very good. Good size for the number of rooms in the hotel. Comfortable bedroom and hotel common rooms. Will mark it as a regular 2 or 3 day yearly stays.

United KingdomIf you're staying in the bungalows, it can get noisy at night with people being loud while dining out in the terrace. Doesn't last all night but when you have a baby sleeping in the room and having spent the whole day hearing nothing but silence, this can be quite annoying and disruptive.
Beautiful calm and relaxing place. Pet friendly with a bed and bowls provided for your fury friends. Delicious and varied breakfast and if you want you can have it served in your room at no extra cost (ideal privacy for us as staying with a baby and a dog). The rest of the food on the a la carte menu is also amazing. Great WiFi connection despite looking like you're in the middle of nowhere. The whole area is huge and there's plenty of walking space if you fancy a morning or evening walk alongside the vineyards.

PortugalThere was only one air conditioning appliance in the bungalow (bedroom and living room) and it was not enough for both rooms. The bed mattress was too hard (although the pillows were good). The shower gel / hand soap dispensers were empty. That was fine, because we also had small toiletries available. However, in the last day, the dispensers were filled with some low-cost gel (when the original brand was Rituals)
Basically everything! The place, the pool, the restaurant, the Chef, the staff, the trails and the wild animals, the wonderful art-gallery-like winery, the wine, the breakfast (and generically all the meals we had)... Also, all the staff was amazingly nice! We left with plans to return soon!

PortugalThe bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep on - terrible. We had to get the sofa made up but my husband said that was terrible as well!! Shame and unnecessary as should be easy to sort. Apparently a major complaint amongst other guests. As a result of only this, we would not go back.
Hotel was lovely as were the staff. Breakfast was Delicious.

NetherlandsPerhaps the area is a bit too quiet for adventure seekers, but only because I cannot think of anything else.
Everything really ... the staff was friendly and attentive, the premises are absolutely gorgeous, the interior design perfect, and the wines and food very yummie. We felt pampered the entire week we were there. Also, we fell in love with the cat 'Grainha', which came to greet us on our terrace every morning.
