    The toaster.

The location was incredible. We decided to stay in Sintra to have two days to explore at a slower pace and see a few more things than you can squeeze in for the average day trip. It was the best decision. The staff were incredible - I mentioned in passing to give the nicer room with the better view to my parents as it was their 50th anniversary and when we arrived back to the room that evening there was a surprise waiting for them. It was thoughtful, unexpected, and very lovely. The breakfast was excellent - the breakfast room was busy but excellently managed and the large enough so the flow of people wasn't causing waits.

It's clean & decent just a bit old in the room. Balcony door cannot be locked. Entering into old town is a big problem to us. We sent email back to hotel to get the old town entering code by email day before we check in, nothing sent to us and we didn't know it must hv the qr code to get into the one way road. We blocked all cars at back n no where to stop our car, eventually I dropped off and walked into town to get the code. Missing the entrance of old town means a big circle back which took us almost an hr.

Hotel location and staff is good....

The room seemed a bit outdated, the furniture was a little worn and the bathroom had a 3-star feel to it. I personally missed the toiletries (cosmetic set, sewing kit etc.) and there were no slippers, no toilet brush - which was a bit odd, considering the ratings of the hotel.

The hotel has an absolutely supreme location just steps from the main Sintra square. It is a 10-15 min walk from the Sintra train/bus station (up and down the hills). All the centrally located shops, bars and restaurants are within a 3 minutes walk. We were allocated at a room which had a corner position, was very large and overlooked both the valley and the square. Nothing can top having a coffee at this location! We strongly recommend it. The front desk staff was highly professional and extremely kind. The entrance lobby has a more of a 5-star feel than expected. The Bar had most amazing view of the valley and the Moorish castle above - that was stunning!

They have a one-way road plan through Sintra, and with the horrendous traffic in this old hillside town (and we were there second week of October!!) , it's a really difficult place to drive. The historic zone has strictly controlled traffic from early morning to evening with a large bollard blocking the last approach up to the hotel. You need to get a QR code from the hotel, to scan at a reader, to lower the bollard - it's a single-use QR code for that day, so multiple in-outs will each require their own QR code. Advice: If you choose to drive here, do not arrive at night, as driving could be hazardous.

The locaation is great - only 2 minuttes from the main square in the historic center. It's a failrly new hotel with all the modern amenities, although it was odd that they weren't able to provide a queen-size bed, and instead gave us 2 single beds. It was a good-size room, and the bathroom also was a good size. Very quiet, with a small balcony looking up the hiil to the mansions. Paid on-site parking is a challenge to get to, but a real good amenitiy in such a touristed town. wifi/internet was great. Breakfast was standard offerings, and OK - nothing to rave about.

Only thing was moisture in room - partly from bathroom (no vent/fan) and humidity outside, but room was moist all time. AC either wasn't working correctly or we didn't use it correctly.

The only not so pleasant experience was with the servers at breakfast who seemed to go out of their way to avoid engaging with us and were reluctant to take our orders for poached eggs - which then took a long time to receive

perfect location right at the centre of the historic district- modern set up. Pedro was very helpful and friendly at reception and Marta was an amazing server - both went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant.

The walls are paper-thin which isn't uncommon for facilities of that era. So, you hear people outside talking or cars on the road. The rooms are also end of life and will need renovation in the coming years. However, we believe that over-all, this is also reflected in the price and is clear from all reviews. And so, it's a fair deal and we are happy we decided to go to the NH.

The staff were incredibly helpful with everything and this made our stay unforgettable. Thanks to them, we pre-booked all tickets and time slots and had everything ready the next day. And Pedro went above and beyond to help finding a charger for our EV! We left the hotel fully recharged! The hotel itself is pretty much in the center of the city and they give you a QR code to drive into it when you ask upfront (it's restricted for regular cars but as hotel guest you get privileges). The view from the balcony is also nice. And walking through old Sintra once the daytrip tourists left is quite charming.
