Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

ItalyMy stay in Lisbon was truly memorable! I stayed in a dorm room of four, it was extremely comfy. The beds felt like a cozy haven, I got the rest I needed after a long day of traveling. The hostel had a warm and welcoming vibe, and I made some wonderful new friends during my stay. The host went out of their way to help me, making my Lisbon adventure even more enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to fellow travelers, it added an extra layer of magic to my trip. A big thank you for an unforgettable experience! And I fell in love with the cat, he is truly the king in the house, next time I visit I’ll bring treats for his highness.

CanadaYuck! Located away from everything in a soulless medical building. The two shared bathrooms are so cramped that your leg rubs against the wall while you sit and the paneling is coming off the wall. The woman who manages the place is so unpleasant and is milling around day and night and makes you feel very uncomfortable. I wish I spent a few more dollars and stayed anywhere else.

United KingdomThe window to our room was a glass door that opened out to the communal garden that would double as a window however the ventilation wasn’t great as a window so we would have to open the door which was only slightly inconvenient at times. The only tiny issue I had (which was barely an issue) was that due to people in the communal garden we would have to keep the curtains closed so it would be pretty dark but that’s the only thing I’d want to be aware of.
It was great value for money and the facilities were very good. The showers, kitchen and toilet were clean and much better than I expected for a hostel at that price. They provided towels and bedding and a fan which was a real comfort when we arrived (as we didn’t expect any of that) and helped with the hot nights.

CanadaWe experienced an extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant stay here. This was my worst Booking.com experience in over 10 years of extensive travel using the platform. After checking into our room and unpacking, we went out for awhile. When we returned, other guests were in our room and our things gone. After some confusion with the host, Anna, we learned that she had moved our things to another room and put the new guests into our room [it was never clarified why the host did not put the new guests into the empty room]. We soon realized that some of our things were missing, including electronic device cables and socket adapter plugs for phones and cameras. Of course we asked Anna for the missing items, but she did not respond or explain, and we could not get them back. We never got these items back. We did not stay in the room we booked, which had a balcony. Our new room was next to the patio. As it was very hot and there was no fan, we had to have the window open. Anna and her friend were just outside our window talking, loud enough to keep me awake. We had a flight the next morning, so after midnight I had to ask her to move to another part of the patio so we could sleep. She was clearly displeased but eventually moved. While we eventually received a refund for the room itself, we were never reimbursed for the lost electronic items. Anna apologized for the experience but also did not return the missing items or explain what happened to them. She appeared very confused.

IndiaThe owner needs to honestly change the entire furniture and not give excuses for the discomfort the guests experience.
There were bugs in the bed. When I complained, the owner supposedly sprayed the entire bed ( I have my own doubts). After insisting I relocated myself to another one, but turned out that was also infested. I had terrible looking arms and hands for the entire duration of the stay. The cat is slightly irritating as it comes to your room and jumps on the bed straight away.

United KingdomWas a bit surprised that there is a cat in the flat, but he's cute and there is not a lot problem with him. One of them toilets ( closer to the shower) stink, but if you do your big job there at least no one gonna notixe the difference. My bunk bed made a bit of noise when i spin around, but completely acceptable for the money i paid.
Honestly I was a bit scared hot it will be, after I started reading the reviews on the train towards Lisbon. But despite all the negative reviews I had a positive experience. First things first! As in many reviews contained there is a cat (Kat) who's the lord of the flat and i can't remember seeing anywhere mentioned when i booked the hostel. So if you have any allergy to hair or pets find another one. In nutshell, mostly satisfied, the host is kind and helpful, the place was cleaned every day. Terrace is lovely!
