Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaYou are only given one very thin top sheet to sleep with and my set of sheets had hair on them. Beds are not very comfortable. I wasn’t aware it was inside the train station and up the escalators so when arriving late at night it was difficult and stressful to find as I wasn’t aware of being given any instructions I find the hostel in the station.
All around a great hostel. Really great place to meet people and the vibe of the hostel was always very friendly and welcoming. A lot of great events organised that your able to join for a fee. Besides my bedding the room and bathroom was clean. Curtains were great for privacy. Lockers are narrow so will fit a duffel style suitcase but not a regular size square hard cover suitcase. Kitchen was fully equipped. Location is inside the train station so it’s very accessible to take day trips out to towns like Sintra which was a highlight of my trip. Very central location and lots of places to eat and shop and things to see nearby. Staff were always willing to help. No noise from being inside the station an was very quiet at night time when window was shut. Had a really gorgeous view from the window in our dorm.

This hostel is exceptional. It is in the train station in a beautiful, busy part of Lisbon and could not be better located for activities and travel. The people in the hostel, staff and residents both were incredibly kind and welcoming. Everything felt very safe as well, making it easy to be a solo female traveler.

GermanyThere was no possibility to get fresh air in because there is no connection to the outside. The room has this very nice skylight you can't open and one small window facing the common room you can only tilt not open. But the air conditioning works very well, so it's probably more of a perceived problem.
Very central but still quiet hostel upper floor of Rossio station (where the trains leave). The staff is very nice and helpful, the atmosphere really relaxed. The lounge is beautiful, very green with many plants and cozy sitting areas. Our family room with bath was sufficiently large, the skylight was nice to bring light in. The beds were extremely comfortable, the ability to close the bunk bed with curtains gave the kids some privacy. Breakfast was really okay for eight euros per person.

CanadaThe bathrooms, particularly the showers, with that many people using them, it would be good if cleaning or upkeep is done twice daily. Theres plenty of excellent hostels in Lisbon for half the price, which include full hot breakfasts, so for their pricing structure, which is much higher, it should also.
The location was excellent, being right on Rossio Square and in the train station terminal. The beds and rooms were great sizes too

United KingdomThe room had a sky light, it would benefit from a black out blind instead of a normal blind, as the brightness woke us up early each day. The rooms are not very soundproof and we could hear everything from our adjoining rooms. There is continuous music playing in main area, you can hear this from your room. Annoying if you want some rest.
Location, looks exactly like photos, easy check in out, felt safe, huge room, loads of towels, welcomed with wine and snacks in mini fridge. Loved having a fridge in the room, washing €9, quite steep, but dried also. Felt welcome with children, in a predominantly adult hostal.

United KingdomAC broke the first day I was there so it was pretty hot all around, but it was fixed the third day I was there. Also showed up for the free walking tour at the meeting point 10 minutes before it started and there was no one there which was kinda confusing, waited for 10 minutes then left.
Great location in a train station, which made it very easy to walk around, and super easy to get the train to sintra as the platforms are right outside the hostel! rooms and hostel in general were very clean and also a large communal area which was comfy and made it easy to hang out.

United StatesHonestly, Lisbon Destination met or exceeded all of our expectations. It is a hostel, so just don't go in expecting a five-star, bougie experience and you'll be golden. One small thing to note is the property is kind of hard to find if you don't know where to look. The entrance is literally in the lobby/waiting area inside of the Rossio train station.
The location was excellent - literally right in the heart of Rossio in the center of Lisbon. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Traveling with small kids, we were a bit nervous about staying in a hostel, but staying in the family room was an excellent experience!

United KingdomIt’s a hostel and you get what you pay for. Quite pricey for a shared dorm room. Noisy as the window doesn’t shut fully and it’s on a main square. Next to the bathroom so hear that slamming a lot. If you can sleep through some noise it’s a nice hostel. The staff on arrival seemed to be in a bad mood and acted like I was putting them out asking for a sheet for my bed. Even in warm weather it’s nice to have more than just a pillow on the bed.
The location was great. I like the curtains around the bed for privacy. The social spaces are nice and welcoming. There are tours and activities if you want to join in, I didn’t do those.

United StatesI wish there's basic shampoo/body wash provided in the shower.
Centrally located, the hostel is inside the train station. It's accessible through the escalator inside the train station which saved a lot of walking ups and downs for me given the geographical feature of Lisbon. It's perfect for catching a train to Sintra for day trip. The lounge is very nice with so many plants! The room has AC which is very helpful surviving the heat in Lisbon.
