Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

EstoniaLisbon City Hotel is a nice place not far from the main attractions. There are 2 metro stations very close to the hotel what gives the opportunity to get easily to all the interesting locations and places of the city. Free Wi-Fi was reliable and good air conditioning inside the room. The 24-hour reception staff were incredibly friendly and supportive.

United StatesDidn't realize that this hotel was in a general Lisbon area. Many homeless people in the area but did not feel unsafe. Initial room on a noisy corner so moved to a smaller cramped room on side of hotel. Staff at front desk fairly new and not always knowledgeable. Other hotels on street, similarly priced, looked more inviting.
I picked the hotel as it is near the Metro so easy to get around and good price.

CanadaMy room was on a lower floor so there could be some loud voices heard from the street which really isn't the hotel's fault. Also some extra shelving in the bathroom would be helpful.
Breakfast was very good and always replenished. Dining area was always kept clean and tidy. Room and hotel kept very clean as well. Close proximity to the metro/trains made getting around much easier.

SwedenSome extra 1-2 shelves for clothes. U have the space, just compartment it better. My night light wasnt separate from my partner's, that ment that i read while he was sleeping with both of the night lights on. We wish that breakfast would have started an half hour earlier, for us homo turisticus that want to see places before it gets too warm.
We enjoyed we had own little balcony to drink our radlers after long walks and we liked that we had a mini empty fridge and ac in the room. Comfy bed, good size shower that didnt drip on the floor, enough hanging hooks for towels. Good breakfast. Nice proffesional cleaning personal and nice receptionists. Just 1 min walk away from intendente metro station, 20-20 min walk to rossio train station if u dont like to take the public transport

IrelandThe location, the room, and the amenities surrounding.
Breakfast was too expensive per person, so we opted to have breakfast nearby. The room was clean, tidy, and spacious; however, the noise was constant due to the main road in front of the hotel (I understand this is out of the management's control), but it was very disturbing. The location was convenient, although there were a lot of dodgy people around the area. Some of them were camping in front of the hotel, which was a bit scary.

CanadaThe Air Conditioning for the whole building wasn’t functioning when we were there. They didn’t mention that when we checked in, but did provide a fan after we asked how to adjust the temperature.

United KingdomReception staff member unwilling to be accomdating to needs. I had requested a late check out upon arrival as I was taking part in a run in the city on the morning. When I asked a second time the day before. I was offered 1 hour or to pay €42 (half a night rate) for an extra hour. Having had to leave my bag of belongings at the start of the race due to the baggage bus I went back and asked if it was possible to use a shower. I was told that it was not as they were fully booked that evening. A quick check on booking.com highlighted there were rooms still available. I suggested an empty room that was yet to be cleaned and was told the same as they would have been cleaned. At which point the cleaner (who had been very helpful throughout the week) came to reception with something I had left in my room and when I asked her if she still had rooms to clean she confirmed she had, I asked to speak to management to discuss this further and wasn’t able to speak to them directly. Having booked the 4 nights previously, I was a little disappointed the hotel couldn’t have accomodated this situation better. The race was ran in temps of around 25 (80F) and as such i required to freshen up before heading home.
Very clean reasonably located property between 2 metro stations on the green line (Anjos). Cleaning staff member was very helpful.

CanadaThe gentleman that checked me in was borderline rude and not at all helpful. The room was smaller than anticipated from the photos. The area is not the best, with lots of homelessness. I felt nervous walking around at night but did not have a problem. However, definitely not a place where you can step out of the hotel and enjoy the surrounding area. More of just a place to sleep and leave.
Rooms were small, but modern with comfortable beds. Cleaning staff did a good job. Close to Metro stop.

United KingdomUnfortunately the area is swamped by single migrant men hanging around in groups and making one feel very unsafe. To make matters worse to get the centre walking you have to cross or go by Martim moniz square that has become a no go zone for anyone other than the migrants.
Staff were good and the hotel is very close to the. Centre. Breakfast was better than expected. The bed was amazing.
