Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesThat we had to pay for drinking water, I believe there should be a minimum of 2 bottles per day free of charge.
It was an overall great experience and comfortable stay. We will definitely stay there again and will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

PolandIron and water kettle were missing. The standard of the room was good but I have expected more after paying over 200€ per night. Lisbon got pretty expensive.
Nice hotel, very central location. Huge bed, all for myself. I loved it.

United StatesWe loved it. They had a problem with our keys working, but went up with us every time to open our door until they could replace the mechanism. We got to know a lot of staff that way!
This hotel is on Largo do Carmo, a beautiful, historic sure where the Carnation Revolution occurred. The staff was very nice.

CanadaBe aware that the place is expensive (we paid approx. $500 Canadian per night for three nights), and that the location, as with all Lisbon, is very hilly. If you want to walk more that ten minutes from the hotel, you’ll be heading steeply downhill (or uphill), which will make it arduous (or effortless) to walk back.
Perfectly situated, ultra quiet, comfy, clean and convivial hotel nestled on a delightful square, and surrounded by truly excellent restaurants (indeed, one of them in in the hotel) and the best shopping in Portugal. The staff are all earnest, helpful and caring. Also, the hotel is but a five minute walk from the metro, a two minute walk to a pedestrian-only boulevard on which stands the oldest, continuously operating bookstore in the world, and is kitty-cornered to the Carmo convent, one of the few surviving relics of the earthquake that levelled the city in 1755. Oh yeah, and a nine-minute cab ride to the cruise terminal, if you’re heading off to sea after, which we were.

LuxembourgNot much of a view. Staff was fine, but I can't say they went overboard to accommodate me. I've asked if they can arrange some snacks left in our room since we had a late arrival - the reply was polite, but no.
The breakfast was very good, the room clean and the bed comfortable. The location is central and beautiful. A lot of restaurants in the area. The only thing - it's up the hill! beware if you have motion issues!

SingaporeNothing much. Only thing is a suggestion for the hotel to include a glass or two in the toilet which we feel is missing.
The location is superb although in a somewhat hilly part of Lisbon but it adds to the charm. The rooms were great! Breakfast was good too! Don’t forget the super helpful staff at the front desk and at breakfast. The room we had also had good view of the sea.

United StatesBreakfast was OK. But, the staff seemed overwhelmed at opening time. Several food items were not available for up to 15 minutes after opening. The coffee service would be better using a machine that allowed self-service options. The room with a view of the castle was nice, but it was small and an effort to use.
Location.

United StatesIf I have to find something I wasn’t crazy about it would be the shower head. It was way up on the ceiling, a very tall ceiling, so by the time the water came down it was very spread out and very misty. But really not a big deal at all.

United StatesAs mentioned above, I think it would be helpful to label the room switches? Or perhaps provide a document explaining the switches?
The hotel location is downtown center of Lisbon. VERY convenient. The breakfast is buffet style and was perfect and delicious. Our room was very comfortable - especially the bedding. Our only "complaint" was attempting to understand the various electrical switches in our room and what they connected to and/or did. Example: if you pressed the wrong button the power to the plugs would inexplicably turn off and you didn't realize it. We also would mention that the rooms all have bathtubs that may be a bit difficult for older travellers to get in and out of (tub sides were very high).

United StatesFor a 4 star hotel, the bathroom had lots of mold everywhere. The sink was so small, water splashed everywhere and the shower head (none) was a hand held wand that didn’t stay upright and water went everywhere.
Very comfortable rooms and size. Location was up high on the hill, so every time you wanted to go to the major squares and sites, you had to go down hills. However there were great restaurants within a 4 min walk.
