    Great accomodation at affordable rates

    • Budget Triple Room with Skylight

I didn't see a lift, so guests with mobility issues might have problems getting to the rooms (it is, after all, an old building).

How this hotel is only 1-star escapes me. It's perfectly situated, views from the room were amazing, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Sure, it's not modern, but that's what makes it even more special. And besides, it was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and there was a TV. What else do you need in a hotel?

You can only pay cash when you want to pay for your stay at the location. They do not accept any foreign cards, money or similar, only cash and Euros. In a modern world, I believe this should not be acceptable.

Location is grandious and downtown Coimbra. This is a perfect location if your desire is to be close to the old city and university. If you want to stay local downtown in the old part, go here. Some great local spots around for eating and drinking.

Value for Money - Great Location - Excellent Accommodation

    • Double Room

The hotel only accepts cash . There is no lift but my room was on the 1st floor so didn't have any issue. The bed although double is on the small side.

The hotel is smack bang in the where to be of Coimbra making the location beyond excellent. There is 24 Hour reception and although the staff speak limited English are very friendly and helpful. The room although dated in still very cozy, clean and of a decent size with a working AC. I requested a room with a 'balcony' and they duly obliged. Thus I recommend you give it a shot as although very small has a great view to start and end the day. If one arrives by train (go to COIMBRA not COIMBRA B) the hotel is only a 5 min walk away on level ground which is great.

Staff very friendly, although the hotel is old it is still good to stay with clean rooms and good bathroom. The location is excellent affording great views across the square and the river from the front rooms. There is no breakfast or food but there is a great little cafe called montanha across the square with a beautiful interior.

The hotel is facing a cute little square on the edge of the town. My main purpose to visit Coimbra was to go to Conimbriga so I didn't want to stay on top of the hill near the university. So, for me, the location was perfect. You could still walk to the university (about 10 min walk) and it's only a few minutes walk from the town center. It's basic, nothing fancy, but it has everything you'd need. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

Nothing really serious. A bit too few electric plugs by modern standards. Just one blanket for two persons - we ended up pulling it on ourselves in the night.

Extremely nice and friendly receptionist. Location is perfect - lots of cafes and restaurants nearby; the train station and all sights within walking distance. Nice view from the window. Cozy old world atmosphere.

The wifi/internet connection was mostly non-existant. I also did not like the antiquated plumbing which meant no toilet paper could be put in the toilet.

Staff was rude and made my mummy 65yrs carry the hairdryer while carrying other bags. Staff was no helpful, room was cold and bed linen old and smelly. Better bed linens are in need. Really noise and shower was small and not great

    Only good thing was location.
