Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was a little on the small side. If driving the hotel underground carpark has a very tight entrance and not suitable for very large cars. The hotel helped me park, but it was very tricky to enter.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating, the location was fantastic for my stay. The room was clean and comfortable.

Close to the centre within easy walk. Park across the road, impressive fountain in the river. Great trip on the river in an old sailing boat, skipper very knowledgeable about Coimbra. Really lovely city, well worth a visit. Fado was great.

LithuaniaI'm a bit confused, as we actually had awful stay, but not because of the hotel, because of Municipal of Coimbra (that's why I can't give low points to the hotel even the stay was awful). IMPORTANT! Before coming, check if there are festivals or any other activities in the river area. We were so unlucky to come when there was a Luna festival. Until 4 (!) a.m. different bands were 'killing' their guitars and screaming to the microphones for I guess 50 people, but the whole town couldn't sleep. Even good windows couldn't help. We were exhausted by the time it was possible to sleep. No idea why this Municipality doesn't care about noise rules. Next night, thanks to staff, we could change the room to the other side, and it was possible to sleep, almost no big noise (if to close the window). About the hotel: - The rooms are small - It could be nice to have kettle and cups - The hairdryer is quite weak, but exists (but you better bring yours) - Not many places where you can put your things. Not crucial, but still. If you have not a hand suit case, but big suitcase, you have no chance to put it anywhere, where it won't block your movements. The hotel is quite fine and staff is great, but before COVID times it probably has to cost no more than 50 euros or smth. To my mind, it's overpriced, but I guess it's a new reality for everybody.
We booked the stay as it was the cheapest hotel. 1. There is a parking option for 8 euros per day (from 12 00 to 12 00). We found it hard to find any other option; 2. There is ability to order food and drinks. 3. Windows are good, you almost don't hear cars even if you live with a view, but there is a road also. 4. Staff is always trying to help with everything. They even warmed our food when we needed it. 5. You can bring the dog (15 euros). However, if you have a big or medium dog, think twice, as rooms are really small. 6. You are close to nice park and river and the entrance to Botanical garden, also an ALDI just on the other side of the river.

United KingdomKettle in the bedroom A less noisy room from machines outside the bedroom
The staff is really helpful when you need something. However, we were put in a room where what we could see were probably the machines of the airconditioned outside...it was very noisy. Also, for me, the main problem is that there was not hot water in the bedroom to make a drink...I found strange as it is nice to be able to have a warm drink in the bedroom. I even have my own drink, but, there was nowhere to heat water. The rest was all right. The breakfast was very good and the staff very attentive. Thank you!

AustraliaThere are major roadworks happening in front of the hotel. We followed the gps which would have taken us to the hotel except for the road was blocked off. We did three long rounds of the city trying to get to the hotel, very frustrated!! Eventually drove onto the road that fronted the hotel and pulled back temporary fencing blocking the road so that we could drive the 100metres to the hotel. These roadworks should have been advised to us by the hotel and a route given to us to get to the hotel via the back streets!!
Convenient to city. Room size okay but not large.
