It's not the Ritz in terms of decor and modernity, some of the fittings (e.g. bathroom door handle) were a bit worn but for the price it's overall great value.

It's excellent value for money. There's aircon that works well. It's an old character building and the beds are comfy enough. There is free parking very closely located outside. A good location for exploring the town. It's pet-friendly with no extra/ hidden charges. The staff are very helpful and amiable.

I did like the customer service provided by the owner of the guest house . They gave us complete details and information about where to leave the car , to eat and drink. They are very caring and trustworthy people. I highly recommend you stay there for one night if you like calmness , peace and be in the city centre .

Nothing great guest house

Great value, Daniel was really friendly and helpful and spoke good English. A very nice location, great for dogs, free parking right opposite property, easy to find. There is a lovely restaurant within 1 mins walk, supermarket right nearby 1 min walk, fridge and microwave for guests to use. Stairs no problem for us or our dog! Lovely visit to Elvas. Alcamim Guesthouse is located right outside the old town which makes it great for those arriving with car (there is a free municipal car park right across the street - no need to drive into old center with tiny one-way confusing roads) and for walking to all the sights on foot. Staff was friendly and helpful - watched our bags until check-in and provided directions to sights. Our room was cozy but there were very comfortable Tempur-Pedic feeling beds and water pressure/temperature (ie plenty of hot water) was great. Our room was street facing so my husband heard street noise during the night but as I regularly sleep with earplugs, I was fine and slept well. Highly recommend, would stay again.

The stairs to reach the room - not practical with heavy suitcases. Definitely not good for guests with reduced mobility.

It's a little bit difficult to open the property door, maybe we are not used to the old key and old lock.

Free parking close to the property. No kitchen but drinking water (hot& cold), coffee, tea are provided in the lobby. Glasses, wine glasses, forks, spoons are available. We got a big room on second floor with good view.

Maybe the management should consider the pricing policy for pets; just a suggestion: take a deposit (25-30% of the room fee,) and then, if no "accidents" or damages happened, just refund the tourists.

The location of the old (but recovered) building in the small town of Elvas is excellent. The service and rhe staff were impecable - thanks for all the kind support.

As stated in the description, bear in mind that there is no elevator. We were aware of this, so it was not a problem for us.

Everything was expected: nice and clean room. Check-in was easy and the person in charge of that was kind. It is located close to a parking that is free for now, which was very convenient, and not too far away from the historic center. We had a nice stay, and, considering the price we paid, very good quality/price rate.

I chose the guesthouse as a last minute addition to my journey as I really wanted to return to explore Elvas. The location is ideal as it sits within the city walls and offers the chance to stay within an authentic Portuguese townhouse. The room was more than adequate though I always prefer my own kettle and tea-making facilities in a room whereas the guesthouse offers this in a communal space. Really the location and cost were spot on.

They don't accept arrivals before 3pm, so plan on getting some sightseeing in first.

Furnishings were old but everything was clean and neat. Free parking nearby which is unusual considering how close it is to the historic sites.
