The room itself was kind of drab and the walls looked kind of like they could use a scrubbing. The room itself was definitely functional and comfortable enough, but certainly nothing special.

We loved its unique blend of ancient and modern. The culmination of culture, elegance and quirky architectural detail, all encapsulated in a literary lover’s heaven! We also loved the huge and comfortable bed and pillows. The location is very convenient and it was easy to walk to the town’s main attractions.

. We ordered 3 rooms out of which one had hot water after 10 ninutes of streaming waters. I was told that this is due to the age of the hotel. It would have been better to notify that in advance before one take a shower.

The actual bed was very comfortable, however difficult to get in and out of! Take the board walk around the bed away would make it much easier.

The room was a bit small; windows faced a patio and have no curtains, so to have a bit more privacy we had to close the shutters and be a bit in darkness.

The hotel is housed in an old monastery. It is stuffed with books, which is fantastic for those who love reading and exploring bookshops and libraries. It was perfect for us! The room was spacious, a lovely bathroom with a bath. Very comfortable bed. Powerful AC, which is a must in Portugal in summer. Super close to the city walls, but very quiet at night. Breakfast was lovely. We dined in the restaurant once, and it was superb! Very nice and helpful staff!

The smell and feeling of humidity. The room needed to be aired. The bed frame was old and rusty but the mattress was good.

No elevator, my room was 3rd floor so I had to carry my “heavy” luggage on the stairs with no help. Regarding breakfast, in case you are looking for some eggs, please make sure you ask, I was not aware this could be made available.

Spectaculos “library” hotel within very good location. Room confortable with everything you need for a short stay. Confortable bed and very nice surroundings.

the mattresses were terrible, maybe still from the convent? i bruise easily— with that said, the springs gave me actual bruises! we had two twin beds and my friend slept terribly also. also, with 70,000 books around… i didn’t like that they chose to feature a series on HITLER (in big red letters) right at the check in desk. very offputting.

The water pressure was very poor, which is not expected at a 4 star hotel but no deal breaker. The staff are extremely nice and helpful

The staff in the hotel were great. The books are a bit repetitive but quite cheap with more expensive rare editions. The room didn‘t look anything like the pictures but it was nice.
