Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe accommodation is right under the Luis I bridge, which means the tram passes above your head loudly from 7am until after midnight.
This place is great, clean and centrally located. The contact with the host and service are great! One of the cutest rooms/ accommodations I have stayed at!

MexicoOne thing to pay attention to, to reach the hotel you either need to go up the stairs from below the bridge or down from the bridge start (I recommend the second option when you arrive and the first when you leave), quite confusing when coming by taxi and the exact location is not mentioned in the instructions.
Secure, clean, close to the river and city center, kitchen with coffee maker, breakfast bits, and a fridge. Complimentary wine in the room and water. Communication was excellent.

United KingdomThe property was under the train line, and the stairs outside the property were popular with party goers, so it was noisy day and night.
The room was modern, very clean and comfortable. It's a quirky conversion of an old property. The owners were very helpful and attentive. The location was the perfect distance between the tourist attractions and the port cellars.

Close to both the city centre and the river. Useful well organised kitchen with coffee maker, breakfast bits and seating area. Complimentary port in the room!

United KingdomIt's not a "didn't like" category really but you will need to keep the noise down for the benefit of other guests. Trams on the amazing bridge that crosses above make a noise when they pass over but I didn't hear them between 2300 and 0600.
Fantastic place to stay, a very unusual atmosphere for somewhere close to a city centre. Friendly host, snack and breakfast options.

United KingdomThe noise-it's right by the bridge and trains start running at about 6am and it's so loud! Also our room was just on the side of the kitchen which was great but there's no noise insulation and we could hear everybody in the morning making coffee and it kept us up. Also we booked a room with bunk beds-they were very comfortable especially the mattress but definately not the easiest to get in to so just something to be mindfull of
The location is superb, hosts were very good, easy to reach and good communication. I loved the fact we could self check in & out and were given the clearest instructions of how to do so. There is a small communal kitchen with complimentary tea and coffee (pods and instant) and even some pastries which was a bonus. We've also received complimentary port and water in the room. The room was spotless and very modern.

United StatesTo get to Douro you have to walk up many stairs or walk down many stairs. It is underneath the above ground metro which runs from around 5:30 AM to midnight. I would have chosen a different place if I'd been aware of the stairs and the rumbling train. I'm pretty surprised that no one has mentioned either of these things in the reviews. I have no problem with stairs but my companion did. Once you've left for the day it's not a place you'd pop back in without thinking about all those stairs to go down and then back up or vice-versa.
The location is fine. The rooms are comfortable and clean.

FranceAlthough the location is great, to reach it you need to go through a steep way when arriving with the metro. One would prefer to arrive down at Pont Luis and climb the stairs. The rooms are below the train and you can hear it (not a huge issue when closing the windows though). This was a minor detail for us
A very good position, close to the Pont Luis (less then 2 minutes). Very close to the river as well. The rooms are small but clean and all the necessary items are provided. I suggest to reach the rooms from the Pont Luis.
