Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalMy room was located on the ground floor which was noisy but more importantly had some sewage smell issues in the bathroom. As Day off Suite and Hostel is in the old part of town and the room was on the ground floor, I understand that this can happen, nevertheless it was really unpleasant and did not resolve itself after running some water
Great location in the historic part of Setubal, close to everything

NetherlandsThe stains on the carpet make the inside a bit unappealing, the bathroom inside the dorm rooms could be improved / soundproofed, did not necessarily like the fact of changing the sheets on the top bunk
The hostel is centrally located, beautiful terrace with amazing view, the bed was quite comfortable and also the check-in was very easy and communication with the host went smoothly.

PortugalThe place is somewhat neglected, we haven't see any staff around from check-in to check-out. The common places are super dirty and disgusting, there is nobody taking care of the cleaning.
The hostel is very well located, in the historic center. We had a ground floor suite, which was fine to sleep, even considering that cars and people were passing by next to the windows.

PortugalThere is no staff, the hostel feels like it´s self maintained. The staff did not answered my whatsapp texts asking questions about the wifi password and check out procedures. It is lacking cleaning and basic stuff such as hands soap. There was only one bathroom for the shared rooms, but it actually was never a problem.
He location is perfect, 5 min walking from the center. The bedrooms were confortable and the hostel was quiet. Good value for money.

United KingdomThe cleaning needs to be improved. The bins in the bathroom need to be larger as they're not regularly emptied and the surfaces regularly wiped down. Ash trays were left full. There's no manned reception, so ensure you've a workout phone to be able to access when you arrive.
Great location, very accommodating staff in terms of leaving your luggage etc. The shared facilities were of a good size. I really liked the roof top area. It's not crowded or your typical hostel so if you're looking to meet lots of people, I'm not sure it's for you. I met a couple of people and they were lovely. I stayed in the deluxe suite which was great. The views are lovely.

AustraliaWhilst the room was fantastic, there was no insulation in between floors and being on the ground floor, the sound of 3 dogs in the room above me after midnight was terrible. Also, you could hear the sound of them showering and flushing the toilet above. They really need to change the floor covering (which are stained) to carpet!

KazakhstanVery cozy place to stay in the heart of the city! Lovely terrace with the view over the city and the ocean where you can meet people, work (there are sockets) or just chill. Work space a the ground floor is very useful. The capacity of the hostel is not big, so it never gets crowded, instead it feels like a community.

GermanyI was in the middle bunk, so a relatively good one. As others have mentioned, you can’t really sit up in the beds. I think next time I’d splurge on a private room. The hostel doesn’t really offer group activities it that’s what you’re looking for.
The staff was very kind and helped me book my dolphin viewing boat tour on the first day. The hostel is conveniently located and you can walk everywhere in the city. The rooftop and kitchen are very spacious and pleasant. You can easily catch the ferry to Troia and can rent bikes/Uber to the coastal national park close by. There are electric lockers.
