Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyOnly thing we didn’t like, but that’s a personal preference I guess, were the pillows. There is one way too huge for a comfortable sleep and one way too small.
We had a great time at Costa d’oiro. The breakfast was really nice and it’s perfectly located. The beach (Praia Donna Ana) is just a quick 5 minute walk away and the city center isn’t too far (20 min if you walk, about 8 minutes by taxi) but not too near as well.

AustraliaThe property is slightly outside the old town but we enjoyed the 20 minute walk in the evenings into dinner and the shops.
Exceptional staff - friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious and well stocked every morning. The two pools are lovely and both equipped with plenty of sun beds and parasols. It’s only a short walk to the beach - note that the beach is very busy so you need to be there early to get a good spot. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

GermanyIt's a 20 minute walk to the city center. But really manageable.
Very nice hotel, nice rooms, everything you need. We were at a small house with some rooms, had the pool almost for ourselves. Good breakfast, nice variety of Portuguese cuisine. Beach is really close.

United StatesThe hotel is on the cliffs...the beach itself was a long walk down.
Room was beautiful, there were three pools on the property to choose from, and the breakfast was particularly good. Most importantly, they had their own parking lot!!!

SpainNot as close to better beaches. Was walking distance (about 5-7 min walk) a beach but was packed!! No place for even a towel. Had yo drive to get to better beaches. Construction going in next door and loud in the morning.
Breakfast was fresh, varied and many options. Well presented, clean buffet. Delicious. Rooms big, comfortable bed. Very clean rooms. Half board. Dinners amazing!!! Every meal was well prepared and presented. Restaurant only for customers at hotel. Staff friendly and good service.

CanadaOur units were in a separate building, a few hundred metres from breakfast area. One in our party had mobility issues. I asked for closer rooms at booking, but hotel did not accommodate. Much road construction nearby and so difficult to get in and out of the area, though not the hotel's fault. A bit far from Old Town.
Peaceful relaxing village atmosphere. Just what we needed! We booked an apartment and it was large, clean and comfortable with a large terrace. Building was well maintained with nice landscaping. We had the pool to ourselves most of the time! Breakfast was excellent with a good variety. Close walk to Praia Dona Ana and Praia Camilo, stunning beaches. Pleasant staff. We had an early flight on checkout so staff packed us a meal to go.

CanadaI would say the location, is a little bit far from the beaches and downtown. If you don's mind walking 15-20 min, it is worth it.

SerbiaThere was a younger gentleman who worked afternoons for the last few days we were there and was mostly on his phone. It took some effort to get his attention and order anything! Other than that, all other staff were 10/10!

UkraineNot minuses to the hotel-just for tourist note: there is no restaurants near to hotel and it takes about 20 minutes to the city center (or EUR 4 by taxi). There is a road maintenance near the hotel and a new building in a process, but this had no influence on our stay.
Very nice hotel located not far away from the beaches and walking paths with amazing views on the ocean! Our room was comfortable and has everything you need for beach attendance (towels, umbrella). Breakfast was great with variety of choice and tasty pastries each day! Highly recommended!

United StatesConstruction near the hotel led to some confusion both walking and driving as roads were blocked off. Not the hotel’s fault however.

United StatesAbsolutely nothing! Oh, there was some roadway construction that affected our stay but the hotel was very communicative about it.
Gorgeous property really close to beautiful beaches and great vistas. The room was very clean and gorgeous! The multiple pools were incredible, also the steam rooms! Staff was very friendly all over the property and one thing that pleasantly surprised me was that the housekeeping staff cleaned the rooms daily and refreshed our towels, which were crucial with so much beach and sun/ pool, relaxation. However the highlight this property far and away was the BREAKFAST. The variety of local and breakfast food was incredible. I will never forget being able to eat octopus salad every morning for breakfast, lol.

SpainMaybe it would be nice to have a door or curtain, for a little more privacy between bedroom/restroom-shower.
The reception was good, we could enter about one hour before in our room. Meantime we had a snack in the bar, next to the pool. Very nice place. The bed was good, the bedsheets of very good quality. Towels big size. Pool towels had been offered. Really complete breakfast and the service has been great. Thanks.

HungaryThe grey building we got our room in, is next to another villa where furious construction is going on. Even though windows and terrace doors are well sound-proofed, between 8.00 am-6.00pm you'd better go to the beach. The apartments are good sized with modern fixtures and wide and comfortable beds, the interior design however (e.g. practicality) needs improvement. For any non onsite dining you need to walk to town.
Modern, obviously newly built house with about 10 apartments, a few steps from the "mother" villa where all meals, check-in services and concierge i available. A 10-minutes walk takes you to one of the most picturesque beaches in Lagos, Donna Ana. Walk! There are very few parking places, all taken by 9.30. The 4 or 5-unit bungalow/villa is a good choice if you want to be near beaches, but do not like the conrete silos. Downtown shopping/dining is about a 20-mintue walk one-way. Lagos is probably the most attractive of the western Algarve's towns: Portimao is not to inviting and Albufeira is way overcrowded.
