Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalBreakfast could be better, and service of the restaurant was a bit slack.
The geographical setting of the place is exceptional, located in the mountains. The convent has beautiful old tiles and a very organic layout, with rooms and patios on different levels connected in unexpected manners. There are two trails for walks, one long one short, the view is fantastic!

PortugalNot always possible to get a room with a double bed (our preference) rather than a twin. But this is the case in most of hotels. As suggestion, the hotel may consider marking parking spaces - this would help to optimise the limited parking space.
We love staying at this hotel: beautiful grounds and views also rose courtyard and outdoor pool area; hotel is filled with history and character; beautiful and cosy living room;, our favourite common area is games room and this time we discovered another secret billiard room. Staff is very nice and welcoming. Comfortable bed / pillows and soft bed linen. Slippers/ robes provided in the room; nice toiletries. We stayed in the annex house (cross hill). During summer , you have advantage of enjoying views sitting on the little terrace outside the room. This is definitely a special place to spend special time.

PortugalBooked an early dinner at the restaurant, arrived when only two tables of people and they put us on a second room saying that they were fully booked on the main rooms. Later, I have checked and there were a few empty tables. Did not understand the reason of that.
Fantastic location, immersed in Natured and the property itself - a live museum

United States1) Restaurant menu could use some attention, service was good. 2) The selection of contemporary art, while admirable in concept, seemed unequal to the quality of the historical setting. Suggest upgrade.

United KingdomIf you want a very modern and sleek hotel in an area with bars and restaurants around in walking distance then this is not for you, but there was nothing here we didn’t like.
A very interesting convent in lovely countryside. We could explore the historic building. We were here in November so didn’t get chance to use the swimming pool but that looked worth coming back for. There are a couple of great walks laid out in the Convent estate. We had a good dinner in the restaurant. The room and breakfast were excellent, staff very helpful. We have already recommended it to friends who also travel in the area.

PortugalReally charming building and location, we did a couple of hikes nearby, visited the Saturday market in Estremoz, played on the padel courts, enjoyed dinner at the restaurant and took a couple of board games with us to play one evening in the cosy area with a fireplace. A wonderful getaway weekend.

PortugalThe breakfast is a bit repetitive, especially if you are staying for 4+ days. It would be great to add some additional necessities to hotel rooms, for example an electric kettle.
The hotel is very beautiful and located in a great place! You can easily get to Estremoz, Evora, and different vineyards nearby (for example, Herdade do Freixo). It's a great place for people who want to spent time outdoors. You can play padel tennis and hike in mountains surrounding the hotel.

United StatesThe only thing I can think of is that steps going up to the reception and such might be a little tough for older people or those with limited mobility to navigate.
Wonderful place in a beautiful location!! Located on a hilltop out in the countryside. The view was amazing. The courtyard and grounds are gorgeous. We didn’t use the pool, but we sat out beside it and relaxed. Lots of history and beautiful spaces. The food was fantastic. Service great. Loved roaming around the place photographing the common spaces and chapel, etc. Just a beautiful place at a great value.

United StatesNothing.
The rooms were comfortable and evocative of past history. The grounds were immaculately kept and there is so much to experience on the property. Exploring the convent was one of the highlights of our stay with the beautiful tiled walls, chapels and art work. The convent was peaceful and serene with a lovely overlook of the hills. In addition to the amazing dinner we had in the hotel restaurant, the staff were fantastic and the convent cats were fun to watch!

United KingdomWe loved this place.
The room was full of atmosphere in an old monk's cell with beautiful old tiles on the wall. The view over the valley was superb and everywhere was peaceful and serene. The whole hotel was covered in ancient ceramic tiles and there were beautiful fountains. The pools were lovely and there were plenty of sunbeds and set in tranquil gardens. Meals were served in the cloisters and the quality of the food was excellent and made with local produce.
