Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalWe recently had the pleasure of staying for one night at the Convento da Provença with our little one, and we absolutely loved everything about our experience. The host was incredibly accommodating and flexible, which we appreciated immensely. The staff was friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist. The convent itself is surrounded by a stunning landscape, offering a clear, star-filled sky that we enjoyed at night. The breakfast was delightful, featuring a variety of choices that catered to all our tastes. Our accommodations were spacious and comfortable, making our brief stay feel like a luxurious retreat. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique and serene getaway. We will be back for a longer stay.

PortugalNothing really, I guess in the future they can add charging for electric/hybrid cars and maybe not charge for the crib since most places don't charge. That being said in the end they offered it anyway!
The hosts/owners and their daughters were very nice and welcoming. The bed and overall comfort were also pretty good. They have 3 donkeys and one of them is pregnant so expect a new little one in a few weeks if you visit.

AustraliaThis hotel was a great find, hidden in the Portuguese hills. A converted convent, it was as if you'd stepped back in time with the decor, yet the rooms and facilities had everything needed. Our room looked over the pool towards the hills and there was the opportunity to take a walk around the area.

AustraliaNothing, nothing at all
We loved this fascinating historic building, which had features in abundance, and a mix of historic antiquities and modern comfortable accommodation. Our hostess, Sylvia was gracious, generous, and full of knowledge about the building and the area. She and her husband were eager to please us. We loved the breakfast too!!! We recommend this as an ideal place to stay, the longer the better. Come on Australians, and others, expand your horizons! And live it up in this magnificent place.

United KingdomInitially we were in a room with neighbours whose dog barked, but we were soon moved to another room.
Welcoming, friendly staff and owner. Comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities. The furnishings in the communal areas are beautifully tasteful and historically very interesting. Breakfast was also very tasty and healthy. A good restaurant is just down the way in the village.

IsraelWe found in this quiet hotel a good rest on our way to Evora. Friendly welcome, clean and spacious room, very good breakfast and free parking, which is always an important plus. Some remains of the ancien convent in which it is set add a romantic feeling and give a "soul" to this highly recommendable rural guesthouse.

AustraliaThere was one mosquito. But we sorted him out (he he).
We had spent two weeks making our way around Southern Portugal and Spain, and needed one final night to rest and recharge before jumping on a flight home. Convento da Provença was the perfect place to do this! We arrived mid afternoon, and despite a little kerfuffle with the booking (Booking.com didn’t recognise the kids as “guests” so we unfortunately under booked), the owners went totally out of their way to make sure they found the ideal lodgings for us. Once checked into our enormous suite, and shown quickly around the facilities, the kids jumped straight in the pool for a refreshing dip. There is an olive tree on the grounds that is over 2000 years old, and the grounds and buildings are stacked with beautifully preserved history. Some of the weaponry is museum piece worthy! The owner family were the perfect hosts, and it felt more like having a short visit to see family than a stay at a property. To top it off, we had a delicious and nutritious fabulous breakfast, all hand selected local produce and the most delicious crunchy bread!

United StatesWe arrived at 11:30AM and the check-in was not until 3:00PM. Instead of welcoming us to stay, we were asked to leave and return closer to 3:00PM. We understood they were taking extra precautionary measures, due to the pandemic, but it was difficult for us to find a place open for business in a small town on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
The location was amazing! Beautiful, breathtaking views of the countryside :) The convent is tastefully decorated. The rooms were super comfortable, spacious, clean. The shared spaces were fantastic, too. The staff, helpful, super friendly, and kind. One evening they lit the fireplace for us, we had a bottle of wine and they brought us wine glasses and napkins. We had a very pleasant evening! The breakfast buffet was fabulous - coffee, tea, juices, yogurt, warm bread (4 types) and croissants, butter and several jellies, cheese, cold cuts, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit ... You name it! Abundant, fresh, nutritious :)

United KingdomBe aware of the access road. Needs a bit of work. Don’t take your low slung sports car just now. A bit odd mind you when the “owner” told me in no uncertain terms to move my car on arrival 90 degrees on an unmarked gravel parking area for no obvious reason in an absolutely empty car park when no one else was there???
Historic relics restored with may original features retained. Many ancient artefacts. Interesting. Lovely receptionist who couldn’t have done enough. A great choice wholesome breakfast. Nice rooms and good bathroom facilities.
