Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful apartment in the heart of the old town. The stunning architecture and elegant interior design truly captured the charm of the area, and the exposed stone elevation added a unique touch that made our experience even more special. We couldn't have asked for a better location or ambiance for our visit.

AustraliaThere's nothing to dislike!
Outstanding hospitality, a lovely building, perfectly located and a really beautiful first floor room with a balcony. You could not ask for a more hospitable, professional or personable host than Carla, who makes sure of everyone's comfort and enjoyment of their stay. There are dozens of restaurants, cafes, shops and wine cellars within a few minutes walk. It's a vibrant and lively area, so there are lots of visitors about, but despite that respect is maintained for the long term residents of a very old neighbourhood. It's a lovely blend of old and new ways. We think it was the perfect stay!

Had a wonderful stay, in a very cute boutique hotel. It is right by the river, about a 2 minute walk so a fantastic location

United KingdomThe airport shuttle taxi I booked through the company didn't arrive on the day of departure so I had to book a last minute uber. An iron and some more hangers would have been ideal. Some may struggle with steps to the top floor room but I was fine.
I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Porto; great location next to the port cellars and river, beautiful and private view from the balcony (perfect place to watch the sunset over the river), comfy bed, incredible rain shower, mini fridge for necessities, decent wardrobe space, restaurants right outside (without being too noisy or boisterous). Felt safer than I have in most European cities as a solo female traveller. Launderette next door is handy if you're staying for longer/ travelling through Portugal.

Probably the frendliest staff we met in our trip through Portugal! Room is chic and the complimentary Port was very welcome. Great place to stay if you're visiting Porto - nice flat waterfront on both sides to explore, which is a lovely break from Porto's many many hills. Porto was also our favourite city of the trip.

United KingdomHaving to fly home.
Stop looking, this is where you need to stay in Porto! First of all, thank you to Carla and her team for making us feel so welcome and comfortable during our stay. Carla went above and beyond, treating us to a breakfast for our anniversary, and honouring our request for a top floor room. Carla was also very attentive, communicating well on WhatsApp and arranging us tours and things to do before we arrived. We also arrived late at night, and she made sure we had the code and instructions to get in. The room at the top on the fourth floor is incredible, with a balcony/terrace providing views of the port caves, the river, and Porto on the other side of the river. It's just incredible and very romantic! This little gem exceeded our expectations, and then some! The location was superb, right in the heart of Gaia, just minutes from World of Wine and seconds from the river, with views of Porto on the other side. There are loads of restaurants around and we'd recommend staying this side of the river in Gaia. The guesthouse is modern, clean, comfortable and stylish, and Carla was first-class - we'll miss her smile and warmth but hope to come back to Porto soon. Thank you Carla and co!

United StatesCan’t think of anything.
This small boutique hotel is indeed charming and comfortablely appointed. Although lots of stairs, my husband and I stayed in the room at the top with its tiny balcony and fantastic view. One evening we sipped a glass of Port and watched the sunset over Porto. Carla, the front desk manager, was so helpful in directing us to the important sights and laid out a perfect route on a map. Plenty of restaurants on the Vila Nova de Gaia side, and we even found street parking,

United Kingdomperhaps a wooden hand rail on the stairs above the glass?
Many of the roads in Porto are very steep so being situated down by the river in Vila Nova De Gaia was a bonus .Ideal for the Port lodges and an easy walk across the lower part of the bridge to the Ribeira restaurants at night although there are many nearer (especially the food court). No steep climb to go back! The bed was huge and comfortable. The room was quiet. The ( 0paque) glass wall to the bathroom was not the problem I thought it might have been! Carla was very helpful. We were able to let ourselves in after a late arrival with the excellent communication given.
