Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

CanadaA lot of stairs, it is a hustle for people with luggages. Maybe a small addition of an AC unit for cooling during hot weather. Maybe find a way to make it easier to pick up the keys (maybe a lock box next to the main entrance instead of going to a different location).
The location and the staff is very friendly.

GermanyThe flat is actually not so clean and old. The smell in the flat was bad, especially in the room. The light was dark. Need to pick up the key at another place which is far from the flat.

United StatesTerrible that keys have to be picked up so far from the property. This was very difficult with luggage. Many things were not in great shape or dirty. Furniture in living room definitely needs replacing.
People in the rental office were friendly and information was clear. Apartment is in a great location; convenient to transportation and most things were very walkable. Nice view.

United StatesNO electric plugs near bed, rooms w/o ventilation, staircase w/o lights, no wifi info on hand (had to climb a chair to reach router, risking fall), no minimal neccesities included like dishwashing soap, cloth, paper towel, handsoap, etc., only 2 windows in the apartment and one could not be open, poor ventilation and noisy.
Location is too noisy and couldn't close the only window of the apartment for lack of proper ventilation.

South KoreaThe hotel and the place where you receive the keys are different. Communicating with them is very difficult. You have to wait on the street except for check-in time. The facilities are older than they seem in the picture.
It's close to the old town, so it's accessible.

United StatesApartment above a busy restaurant and street noise went all night long with people drinking and partying. Furniture was uncomfortable and the chair for third person was awful. No drip coffee maker and no coffee. No air conditioning or fans so apartment was stuffy and warm. Having to pick up the key first in a location 20 minutes away was a pain. If you want to stay out all night in a busy location then it's a great apartment. If you like sleep and comfort I suggest another location.
There were three of us and we each had our own bed. The bathroom was large and nice. The wifi was excellent.

Irelandthe apartment is dated. there was only one window to let in air . as it’s location was on the 28 tram line the road was very noisy at night. bedrooms had no windows or fans making it v hard to sleep.
