Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFinding our way in was a little tricky, the reception is around the corner in a different location, there is only a small sign at the side of the door to indicate where to go. And if you don't like steps this is not for you - around 70 stairs to get to the 3rd floor
Great location in centre of Lisbon. Loved the traditional building with its high ceilings and wide staircase, the grand old apartment our room was in had loads of character

United KingdomThe kitchen was a bit grubby and the fridge smelled bad. The shower rooms were additional to the bedrooms so took up a little of space in the room but were small, the shower door didn't shut
Location was great, and the staff were really helpful. The bonus fruit and pastries were great. I liked the idea of a shared apartment but it just needed extra work

RomaniaWe were travelling with heavy luggages and had to walk 3 floors on stairs. Luckily, one of the staff members Joao helped us with the luggages but at the check out we had to do it ourselves. The reception guy said that there will be some basic breakfast stuff in the Kitchen but there wasn't anything, just 2 empty bottles of orange juices and some crumbles from croissants. The shower head was broken and was spilling water everywhere, the shower glass wasn't sealing properly, so the bathroom was full of water after showering. The toilet flush button was getting stuck after flushing and the toilet wasn't flushing properly.
Good location, super close to restaurants and bars. There is underground parking 20m from the location. Easy check in and great staff. The apartment was on the 3rd floor of renovated old style building with separate rooms communal living room and kitchen. The room is small, clean with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was big, with bath tub and shower and old style tiles. Good water pressure in the shower and relative quiet rooms.

United StatesNo elevador and lots of stairs. Room was a bit cold and I had maintenance bring a portable heater. Building is under heavy construction so it's a 'work zone'. No breakfast (I had hoped for it as I read the reviews that they offered such).
Room was wonderful and comfortable. Hot water had great pressure, beds very comfortable. Kitchen offered coffee and light snacks throughout the day. Staff was great as well. Once building is done with construction it'll be even better. I also liked that the street was quiet and location was great..

United KingdomMy only complaint was that it was a little dusty walking up to the floor. It wasn't clear before booking that there is a lot of construction going on in the lower floors. It didn't really bother me as I was only there for a few days and the room/location was worth it but I think it might be a problem for some.
Location was perfect and lovely room/facilities.

CanadaWhat I liked most was the warm and playful reception I got when I went to check in at the hotel (the indicated check-in location). Diego and Saul were super fun to interact with. Everything worked well and the location is ideal, right at the center by the Baxia-Chiado metro, close to so many lovely eating and gathering spots.

United KingdomRoom is a bit small, but as a sole traveller is fine. It is a long way to the third floor by stairs, however it makes part of that feeling that you are in in the XIX Lisbon.
Antique atmosphere everywhere takes your imagination. The best location that you could wish for. Very comfortable bed and clean almost new towels. The pressure in the shower is quite good so you can really have a good relax after a long day walking in the city.
