Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe arrived late in the night and it was dark. GPS was accurate but its an isolated place and at times it felt like we were lost. There are signs on the road so it's all good.
It's a wonderful, away from the city, quiet place. The warmth and care from the host. It was a pleasure talking about our families, Portugal, the sumptuous breakfast, and the beautiful surroundings. The place has a safe parking spot and a feeling of reaching your own home and sleeping in your own bed.

Stacey and Luc are the perfect hosts, 10 out of 10, they made us feel at home. The house is lovely, quiet and cosy. I love the fact that you can use their big kitchen to cook your dinner and eat it outside. The swimming pool is nice and there is enough room for all the guests. The breakfast was amazing, freshly baked bread, cheeses, cold cuts, spreads, cereals etc… and a special mention to the apple cake and lemon cake delicious! A great place to use as base for exploring the Algarve!

The owners went out of their way to assist us with laundry, lift to town, info, chats and reading books etc. The breakfast was tops!

United KingdomThere was nothing I would change about our stay. I could not fault the hotel, it's position or the facilities.
This is a bed and breakfast situated in the hills above Albufeira, just south of Sao Bartolomeu de Messines. It is ideally located to explore the Algarve, with access to the IC1 and the A12/A22, as well as some other major roads (N270, N124, N125) only minutes away. The owners speak Flemish/Dutch and English as first languages, but between them they can converse in a number of others. They have contacts around the area with tour operators and can arrange some activities on your behalf. Stacey booked us on the boat trip we took with Algarexperience. All rooms are ensuite and arranged around a courtyard pool. There is a BBQ for guest use, and the breakfast room has a kitchen which guests are welcome to use should you want to stay on site instead of eating out at one of the many local restaurants. The owners gave us a list of around 20 local places, and we found many others along the coast. Locally, vegetarians are not well catered for, but there are a number of places in the more tourist oriented spots like Albufeira, Lagos, Guila and Vilamoura which do. That said, we were able to get a meal at any of the places we have been to. There is TV and free WiFi in the rooms, and air conditioning. Breakfast is large and varied, with typical continental offerings of fresh home-baked bread, cheese, cold meat, fruits, boiled or fried eggs on request, juice, copious amounts of coffee and should you want it, yoghurt, cereals and toast. Parking is under a shade so the cars are not too hot to start the day, and they will loan you beach towels and parasols if you need them. You do need a car if you stay here, as it is quite out of the way, but that makes it quiet and understated. It has been a highly pleasant stay for us, using it as a base to explore the mountain areas and the coast alike.

NetherlandsIt takes a few days to get accustomed to the location when it comes to grocery/food shopping or visiting any beaches and/or attractions since the facility is located slightly away from "everything"
The location is kind of a double-edged sword. The bnb is located quite off the main road thus one absolutely needs a car if one is to get to this place and make a holiday. The flip side of this is that it offers an extremely serene and quiet place to make a holiday. There is no light pollution thus the stars come out in their full spleandour at night. Top it off with a cozy swimming pool and a sumptuous breakfast every morning. Carol, Stacy and Matilda make the place feel like home every time.
