The fact they don't offer breakfast... but there was a coffee shop near by with good options. There was also a smell of sewage coming from the shower (the owner acknowledged it and explained why the are struggling to fix it)

The house is beautiful. Decoration is very detailed, and the house feels home. The bed was comfortable, and the shower pressure amazing, especially after a long day out. The owner was very helpful to give us info and options of what to do and where to eat.

Though I knew that my room didn't have a bathroom door, it was not comfortable for me personally. Also, despite the coziness, everything is a little dusty.

Location is good. The stuff is friendly and helpful. River view and entrance is very nice. Hotel style is very unique and cozy. Good place to visit with a group of friends.

There is nothing not to like, it's a magical place

This is a magic house, I would imagine the owner is an artist, the decorations are amazing, the furniture incredibly comfortable. The lounge, patio & garden are huge. Wonderful views to the river & mountains. You can access the river swimming pool from the garden. You MUST go & eat in Lenda Viriato, it's the most wonderful dinning experience I've ever had. Location, quirky decor, size of rooms, friendly staff, fantastic sun terrace & lounge, beautiful village

I assumed that we could cook because of the shared kitchen and it’s usual for the baby to have porridge on a morning but she managed with cereal, partly my fault because i should have asked before booking also if we could cook there, no big problems :)

Warm, homely, welcoming and helpful :) extra bed for older child and they were so excited when they saw the bathtub in the room haha! Views were amazing and kitchen well stocked with all utensils. Lovely host, kind and helped us out when we rang a couple of times. Decorated amazingly and loads of places to relax. Very welcoming to children. Hot showers and bathtub :)

    All was great.

So lovely everything about it but my favorite was the fantastic deck, incredible brunch, and the swimming pools built into the river right behind the house.

The hidden gem of Serra da Estrella!

Casa da Almoinha is absolutely fantastic and is the hidden gem of Portugal. Margarida, the host, is a ball of sunshine. My partner and I stayed for three nights and were delighted every morning with the most incredible brunch full of local produce, baked goods, and traditional Portuguese foods. Margarida's brunch is the perfect start to a day and the vast array of treats will forever be in my memory. Every afternoon and evening, we would be greeted with freshly baked cookies or cakes in the kitchen. All those little touches from Margarida were so thoughtful and appreciated. Margarida was full of knowledge about where to hike and visit in Serra da Estrella. She has many brochures about the region and will also provide detailed information about where to hike in the area. The location of Casa da Almoinha was perfect. The guesthouse is located next to the freshwater stream (from the mountains) and can be enjoyed from the backyard patio. There's an adorable pathway and bridge leading to the main part of the small town and a short 5-min walk to get to the restaurants and grocery stores. We were also pleasantly surprised that the trailhead to a 5-mile hike was so close! The hike wove through the hills, paralleled the river, and brought you through the most beautiful landscape of ferns, wildflowers and pines. The views were incredible and was easily one of my favorite hikes in the region. Our room was lovely and everything in the house was spotless (very clean!) The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure was luxurious. The only thing to keep in mind is that there is no door separating the bathroom from the bedroom so this room would be recommended for couples. Overall, Margarida's guesthome was outstanding and I would stay with her again in a heartbeat. It's like having a home away from home and all the little joys and tasty surprises that make you smile.

The dogs chained to the trees. Described as bed and breakfast and misleading as that is an additional cost

Amazing lounge and great room to relax in. Beautiful ground and access to Praia fluvial

I created the expectation that there was room service which was not the case. When we arrived every evening, the room was cold, and it took at least an hour of AC for us to feel comfortable and take off our coats. No breakfast either. Without these services I found the room pricey.

Spacious nice room with curious decoration. Very nice and cosy living room with a nice balcony with a view. The location is very good, in a beautiful scenario in the Serra da Estrela National Park.
