Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI was ill during the stay and the host went out of his way to provide for me...carry my bags. NOTE: There are a lot of steps. He made me tea and overall went the extra mile.

United KingdomThe 60+ steps up to the apartment. The sink in the bathroom was of a size you would expect to find in a cloakroom.
The apartment was very accurately portrayed in the photos and is a simple, basic apartment with a well stocked kitchen and very clean throughout. Good for exploring Pinhao They provided very generous breakfast supplies - coffee, fresh bread, ham, cheese etc. The outside terrace area was lovely even if the furniture a little tired. Pedro and his mother were very helpful and Pedro answered any questions really quickly and provided lots of very helpful and useful information. He offered to help carry our bags up to the apartment (one of the ones on the top floor) as there are 60+ steps from the street level.

United KingdomThe property was set back into the hillside above Pinhão in a beautiful, quiet location. It was comfy & spacious, had everything we needed & was a pleasure to retreat back to each evening. Pedro was a friendly, attentive host & nothing was too much trouble. He ensured that we had enough food for breakfast each day & helped us book tours

NetherlandsSome cabinet doors need maintenance. Since we stayed only one night, for us it did not matter that much.
Pedro is an exceptionally helpful host. We are grateful for his kindness and proactiveness. The apartment was quiet and comfortable. Air conditioning kept it cool during a very warm day

United StatesIt's a great spot, but be aware there are stairs to climb- not a problem for us, but there are a bunch. The shower was small and flooded every time we showered. Softer towels would be an upgrade.
Great spot right in town and Pedro supplied a great little breakfast! He was so helpful in giving recommendations of places to go- definitely try Jallota winery! And he made us reservations at Carvalhas for their bus tour- a must do to learn about winery intricacies. The apartment was clean and very comfortable. Pedro is super responsive and a great host.

Great communication with the host. Our arrival was delayed by a train strike but he checked to make sure the trains would be running on departure day. We met the host at the Cafe across from the train station and the apartment was an easy 5 minute walk away with markets close by. The apartment was clean and had ample space. The bed was comfortable and the WIFI worked well. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the breakfast items left in the fridge added to the value of the apartment. Just remember it is a cash only apartment payable on site.

United KingdomThe only problem was that the property is at the top of lots of steps from the street, and we had one heavy case - though Pedro was very willing to help with that, bu we didn't take advantage.
Great view from the rooms and the terrace. Pedro and Tiago were great hosts, and Pedro was a mine of information about everything to do with the area.

United KingdomThe shower was slow to drain and so you could only have a quick shower to prevent it flooding and the water temperature was very variable throughout the shower. Mattress and pillows weren’t very comfortable.
Outside terrace was lovely, the house had great views and was only a short walk from the train station and the host was incredibly helpful.

United KingdomNothing , very happy with our short stay.
Very clear instructions and useful information sent by the host by Whatsapp the day before arrival . Met the host on arrival in Pinhao , made us feel very welcome. The apartment is centrally located close to many restaurants and supermarket , with outside seating space to the front and a shared terrace above and behind the building with nice views.

Spacious, clean, well equipped, walking distance to centre/train. Most importantly, Pedro, our host, was very helpful with recommendations for dining & activities and allowed us to leave our bags while we took an excursion in the region.

CanadaThe area surrounding Pinaho is spectacularly picturesque. Unfortunately there is no view of this from the property. That said we did not find this inconvenient because it was steps away from riverside and wonderful scenery.
This is a quaint property in the heart of Pinaho. It is centrally located and, as such, well within walking distance of most of what the town has to offer. It was very quiet despite being in the centre of town and the little alley in front of, and the area behind the property, were very pretty.

New ZealandA lot of stairs to climb with a heavy suitcase to gain access to accom. In Pinhao all the small businesses only use cash. We had a debit card and credit card that were not accepted in small establishments like cafes and some restaurants. Suggest people have cash- euros on them to cover the visit.
Location was great- so close to central Pinhao and train station / boat port. You could walk to cafes and restaurants close by. The host Pedro was excellent and bought fresh bread rolls to us each day as part of our breakfast. The breakfast was basic but nice and adequate. Room was clean and tidy and bed was comfy. The apartment was dated but for the prices in Pinhao it was good value for money and a great location. The host was fantastic and assisted us to pay via PayPal as the only methods of payment are cash or paypalfor the accom
