Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe fact of 2 sets of steep stairs. the shower head was broken and water spurted out over shower screen. It was a little noisy in the evening a bar opposite but with shutters closed not too noticeable.
Very helpful receptionist came to car, which we could only park a fair distance away, and carried all our bags to the apartment. Very friendly and helpful. Apartment was tidied while we were out and bed made.

ItalyThe apartment is a bit old but a good budget place. A note, the area is a party area with many clubs(one right in front of the apartment)playing loud music till the wee hours everyday and their customers screaming in the streets making impossible to sleep. This is not a place suitable for families or for who want only relax.
Staff are very nice and helpful

United StatesDO NOT STAY HERE. Place is unsafe and is not in the condition shown in online booking photos. This had to be one of our most expensive places we booked but the worst place we stayed at. Our very first night we were given a room which 2 doors didn’t work, no wifi, broken glass and doors, no safe to store things, no working tv or remote, broken outlets and a ratty old bed with a sheet put on top instead of a fitted sheet. Broken glass above the bed? Have at least the courtesy of removing the glass. The second bedroom is literally just a bed and no space around it. Couch that looks like someone died on it or dragged in from the street. Gave us keys for an outside door which doesn’t close and you can just pull open. Man at the counter (which was at a different building) was supposed to be there until 12am. They don’t give you keys to access that building and the guy was no where to be seen when we needed help. We tried calling several times and no answer. We put everything aside and decided to enjoy a night out. Got back around 12:30 and our key gets stuck in the door not allowing us to leave. Eventually we get a hold of the man working at the desk. He comes gets the key out after 15 mins and was ready to leave. When asking him to show me how ends up getting it stuck again and has to call the landlord. He comes - gets the key out after 15 mins, again ask him to show me and gets it stuck for another 30 mins. By this point is 1:45am. We are only in Lisbon for 2 days and a whole day was spent with this. We tell him about the wifi and states the next morning he will get someone to work on it. We call the next morning and clearly no one had any idea that we needed things fixed at the apartment. The man on duty that night was even surprised at the condition of the apartment and even agreed when we said we deserve a refund for our stay.
absolutely nothing. place is trash. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

CroatiaIt can get loud outside in the evening. But it's not a dealbreaker,
A fantastic little street in Bairro Alto. The place is nicely furnished, the bed is very comfortable. Staff incredibly nice and helpfull. Amazing view from the balcony. Great restaurants and bars around. If you want to feel Lisbon it's a very good starting point.

PortugalThe listing didn't say NO DEBIT card, but I got there and their POS was out of service, it couldn't charge my card, I even told the receptionist to charge it through Booking.com but she couldn't do that either and all of a sudden she told me their policy is CREDIT CARD only. She told me to go to sleep that she'll try and charge my card later in the morning, so I took the key and went to a bar around, only to come back around 3 am to find here around the apartment looking for me, telling me to move out because her boss was giving her hell, mind you, she already entered the apartment while I wasn't around d in the middle of the night. I offered to pay her cash then because that was the last solution I could offer from my part, she took the cash and I went to sleep but couldn't stop thinking she would come and open the apartment again any moment. P.S, the manager comes to eavesdrop around 12.30 to see if there is no noise in the apartment
The location is nice during the day, but nightmare during the night because of the parties all around, the next apartment is even a restaurant that works till late night
