Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe shower wasn’t draining properly, probably owed to being on the top floor but others may find this more inconvenient for longer stays.
Really convenient location next to Campo Pequeno station on the yellow line making entry to the city really simple. The room is spacious and really clean, I stayed on the 10th floor with a lovely view of the surrounding city. Check in and check out was really simple. Very clean compared to other properties I have stayed at.

IrelandOn our first day there was a very foul smell by the lifts and in our room when we came back to the hotel after being out for the afternoon. This smell was so bad that it literally choked us as we opened the door. We expressed our concern to a member of staff who said it was due to building/construction work across the road however we could not get the smell from outside the window or as we were walking back to the hotel. They came into our room and sprayed air freshener. When my partner expressed his concern at reception as the smell was so so strong, he was quickly dismissed and we felt like the staff didn’t really understand the issue as there was a language barrier. We kept the window open and the smell slowly disappeared- we had to do this every time we were going out to ensure the smell didn’t return. If the smell was coming from outside, opening the window would’ve only made it worse however as it cleared it, the smell was obviously coming from inside the hotel. I did not see this mentioned in reviews before we made our booking a few months ago, however I seen it mentioned as I looked at reviews again during our stay and found that others had the same issue. The hotel should really look into the source of this smell.
Good value for money, our room was clean and modern.

United StatesIt got very stuffy in the room (on the 9th floor) & it didn’t seem like the a/c was helping much.
We stayed at the Berna Hotel 1 night because we were on an early train at the Entrecampos station the next morning, which was just around the corner. Worked out perfectly for this. Nice enough room & clean bathroom.

CanadaThere was some construction happening, so we heard some noise during business hours. We were on vacation, so we weren't attentive to business hours, but the noises made us very well aware. The bedroom had a weird smell at first, I think it was the combination of old carpet and heavy curtains. The staff left the window open when we arrived, so that helped. You will notice it if you leave the room and return and the windows are closed.
The location was great, there is public parking on the street, you need to pay but not expensive. The staff was really nice. The place was overall clean and fine.

Czech RepublicThe decor and furnishing was very dated, my room was at the start of the hallway so there was noise from passing guests. I didn't mind this at all, for the price this is not unexpected, but just something to keep in mind if you're a light sleeper or have higher luxury standards
The room was clean, basic amenities were provided and replenished regularly, fairly cheap for the location. Fast check in and the only staff member I interacted with was friendly.

PortugalPaper thin walls and cleaners making a racket at 9am. Yelling from one room to another while pushing a cart that I swear it sounded like people were throwing pans on the floor. Both me and my spouse weren't able to rest anymore. The bed was bad, we both barely slept due to backache.
Location wise it was great, the room was a bit run down but nothing too bad. Had small convenient things like shampoo, body gel, water bottle and so on.

CanadaThey only had single beds and the hotel decor is a bit tired and worn. The room however was very clean. Apparently they have started refurbishing the rooms on the floor below ours.
Good location to Metro and train lines and close to the airport. We chose it for the proximity to the airport, while still being in the city. They put on a very good breakfast with a wide choice of cereals, boiled eggs, cold meats and cheese, breads and buns and trays of hot food including bacon, eggs, sausage, beans etc. We got a very good recommendation for dinner at a nearby seafood restaurant called Baía do Peixe in the former bull fighting stadium from the front desk. The hotel was quiet.

MalaysiaIt would be convenient to have an electric kettle provided in the room. Additionally, drinking water was not provided in the room except on the first day of check-in. We had to go to the hotel's restaurant beside the reception to get hot water using our own vacuum flask every morning and night.
The hotel is conveniently located near the metro and train stations. The room was spacious enough for two people with two suitcases. Additionally, the window could be opened to let in some fresh air.
