Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe shower cubicle was separated from the bedroom only by a glass door - very odd (!). Room very white - white walls, white bed - which will be perfect for others tbh.
Location is perfect close to all the sights. We booked a room with a little balcony which was worth it for sure. Overlooking a pretty cobbled alleyway. Bed was very comfortable. Walking distance to lots of bars, restaurants, shops.

United KingdomThe staff, except for the woman who checked me out, the cleaners and Juan, were so rude. The woman with curly hair who checked me in was sooo rude, I asked her a question as to why my card was blocked to access my room and she walked off in a strop. Rude.
Location is great, marina front to the left and all the shops and restaurants on the right. In the heart of it all.

United KingdomFirstly, boutique is misleading as this is a standard hotel with fewer amenities than any others I have stayed in. There is no tea, coffee or kettle etc. In the room or facilities to make a coffee else where. If there was, we were never informed. There is no iron, etc, in the room, and no information supplied in the room to say if one is available. There is also no phone to ring reception to check these things either and reception is often unmanned. The only information supplied is room number and what time breakfast is served. Although the surfaces in the room were clean such as floor and sides, there was a horrible brown substance under the wall attached hair dryer that I did my best to ignore and the finishes in the room were poor (toilet roll holder hanging off the wall, lights above the bed not working). As in other reviews the rooms are very dark, great for sleeping but getting ready was done in dim light but not a massive issue as you spend most of your day outside.
The room was very large and the staff we encountered were pleasant. The hotel is super central and really quiet at night. When we checked in it smelt and looked very clean. The bed linen was clean and so were the towels and floor etc.

CanadaThe hallways and elevator were a bit shabby but tidy and in good working order. Breakfast was fresh but incomplete and took an hour and 20 mins which wasted a lot of our last morning in Portugal.

United KingdomReception so small and never once any one attending it. The breakfast at the hotel although good value and plenty of it was not the best …scrambled egg and bacon was mixed together and well over cooked. They need to get away from quantity and concentrate on quality ( staff were nice and coffee and fruit was good). The Main issue was I left expensive jacket and tried to contact hotel on numerous occasions from resort via phone and email but got no response. Booking.com are still awaiting response 2 weeks on….poor
The location is fantastic near mariner and old town. The family room was very big and relatively modern. The restaurant appears relaxed and modern with nice outdoor section to the rear.

United KingdomWhen I made the booking I explained it was a special occasion /30th wedding anniversary and requested a nice room with a nice view . We were allocated room 303 which was on ,3rd floor and looked directly into another room, no view. On entering the room the first thing we noticed was how dull and dark the room was with very little lighting. The bathroom also had a hole in the wall which was filled in very poorly and no toilet toll holder , toilet roll had to sit next to sink. Overall , the room was spacious, comfy beds but could be doing with just a little more lighting and bathroom jobs completed more professionally.
Loved the location of hotel, so close to shops, marina, etc. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

United KingdomThe room was good with the exception of the lighting which was poor and not bright enough, the mini fridge didn’t work at all and the shower which didn’t drain quick enough. I was also sure I had booked and paid for breakfast but the hotel said I had not soo had to pay.
Informal and easy to navigate.

NetherlandsLadies at the reception cant speak english; refrigerator wasnt working in our room and staff kept “forgetting” to change it (we couldn’t have cold water in the room as it was quite warm); there was no water at the hotel on one of the mornings during our stay and the hotel didnt have reserve water; water wasnt flowing properly in the shower and the sink; lighting was quite bad in the room (only bed side lights); our room cards were not working at least once per day during our stay

United StatesWe had drawers by our beds but only the top opened. There was not enough room to away our clothes. My wife had to use her suitcase. I would have been nice to have more drawers. Our rooms did get clean but it was always after 2:00pm.
The room was very clean but it does need some touch up like fixing the hole where the door knob hit. It was more like a spartan room it had a desk and next to it a closet with two spaces and a safe. The hotel was a half block from the Marina so the noise level was loud due to bands playing. Yes it is a party place but the noise was over by 1:30am. Great location so you can walk to the boat tours. Everything was in walking distance to great cafes and shops. The hotel is connected to the restaurant so you can walk through the building which was convenient. The food was very tasty and the seafood was awesome. We had breakfast and it exceeded our expectations.

United KingdomThe sheet had a small dark red stain on it and the sink had a pinkish stain, the light flickered on one of the days, the toilet flush was a little temperamental, the restaurant created a lot of smoke that ran into the hallway of the rooms and didn’t smell nice
The location was excellent, right within walking distance of everything within the centre of town and a small walk to the ferry port, also beds were comfortable and facilities were nice, decor was also nice and the room was spacious

United KingdomLocation was good as we wanted to be based in the centre of town - however lowlight is there is no parking and you need to park in an area which is not as close and quite dark at night. Also another lowlight is definately the staff as they were not helpful at all. They didnt really acknowledge us anytime, not asking if we needed something or anything. Most of the times the reception was empty because either there was anyone or they were sitting at the restaurant chatting. Room size was quite decent though as we were allocated an accessible room, the mattress was terrible. All in all, just stay there if you need to be right in the centre of Faro. For us, it basically did the job after all

United KingdomAs the hotel is in an area the taxi could not access (due to some scaffolding at the end of the street) I would suggest being dropped at Hotel Faro to walk the short 50m walk to the hotel.
This was a little gem. We had a balcony room overlooking the street below and a side view of the marina. The staff were very helpful on check in and gave us all the information we needed. The rooms were very clean and suitable for our stay. We would definitely stay there again.
