Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalTowels were frayed. Room was super basic in decor and amenities. Could be more special with just a few inexpensive design touches. Bottled water, a small fridge, and luggage racks are needed in the room. At least 2 USB ports would also be helpful.
Room 305 has a spectacular view of a stork’s nest just across the street. Sweet little balcony to sit and watch them. The location is fantastic - in old Faro next to the marina. Near the train and bus stations. You can walk to all that you need and some amazing sights. The staff were friendly and helpful. My friend needed a taxi at 4am for a 6am flight. We prearranged it (recommended) and he showed up on time and ready to help with the luggage.

United KingdomThe breakfast was disorganised. We were advised that breakfast would be served at 8.00 but the staff did not start preparing breakfast till 8.00. So we had to rush our food as we had to catch a bus. The food was ok.
The bedroom was large, clean and included lovely toiletries. It's well situated for exploring Faro.

Irelandroom was incredibly dark unless all lamps and reading lights were on - one dim ceiling light in the main room and the only window looked out on an aircon bank and into the hall so someone looking out that window in the main hall could see into my room through that window. couldn't get TV to work. shower didn't drain properly so pools of water everywhere. mattress very uncomfortable.
location was magnificent also, nice pillows the staff were nice, restaurant downstairs was nice.

United KingdomThe bedroom window didn't close properly so noise from outside kept us awake as the hotel is central to restaurants etc. There seemed to be lack of build quality from a recent refurbishment with wall mounted bits such as towel hook, hanging off the wall. For some strange reason, the toilet seats didn't fit the bases. Our room and our friends room were the same.
Our room was a great size and spacious and lovely and cool with aircon. The bathroom was clean and all of the Toiletries were provided.

DenmarkAt night it gets noisy, as it's right in the city center where people stay late at night to have dinner, talk loudly etc. Also, the building next to the hotel is being renovated and some noise came from there too. Some of the reception staff have modest English language skills, but it was fine in the end :)
Location is excellent, right in the city center and a few steps from many restuarants and shops. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was nice and clean, just like in the picture.

AustraliaReception isn't staffed all the time. Fair enough. But please answer the bell when its pressed. Had to search out staff for help to leave bags/checkin/checkout/collect bags. I know the room was cleaned as there was a strong bleach smell which never really dispersed. No ability to make a cuppa. Mini fridge barely cool. Unusual bathroom setup. Shower one side of small balcony and tiolet and hand basin other side.
Bed was very comfortable.

United KingdomWhen we booked in was told breakfast was free. Next morning went down for breakfast and was told by the same person that it was €10. For that price it was ok but need to make sure you get the food and drinks in the order you want it. No tea facilities in room which were advertised and toiletries poor.
Location was very good very central for bars restaurants old town and the bus station. Very close to port.

United KingdomThe room was in a really poor state. The walls have all kinds of dirty marks and scuffs all over them, some of them seemingly liquid stains of past guests. I dread to think… There are large patches of unpainted filler, jagged edges, one of the drawers in the wardrobe was off the runner, the toilet seat was misaligned, the shower head holder didn’t hold position, the soap stand was a snapped piece of plastic, the bathroom tap was loose, the furniture is scuffed and poor quality flat pack which was delaminating, the lamp by the bed didn’t work and some of the light switches just did nothing. The hall landing that my room was on stunk of stale foul smell, and the room smelt of musky damp. The floor mat in the bathroom was frayed. The actual quality of the room was frankly embarrassing. It was a fine place for me to touch down and sleep, shower and refresh as a solo traveller, but if I was with others I’d regret the booking. A significant concern of mine was when I arrived reception was not staffed, and left unprotected on the desk was printed copies of all of the day’s bookings, complete with all of the customer data in plain sight and easily able to be taken, photographed, copied down. Data security is important, but apparently not here. The hotel is also in close proximity to the airport, and on the flight path. I’d recommend sleeping with the windows closed as when the first flights come over in the early morning, they’ll probably wake you up!
The location is good, although it was quite hard to find. The location on Google Maps et al is to a larger hotel nearby. This place is tucked away down a side street. Clearer directions would be helpful. The location is good, just a few seconds walk out to the water and easy access to shops, transport, etc. The AC is very effective and cools the room right down. The bed was oddly comfortable despite first impressions, and I slept really well.
