Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

ItalyThere was an unbearable smell of dump and mold that we had to suffer during all our stay. Also the sofa with its cousins and the carpet seemed to be filthy. The host did not seem to particularly care about it when I called in. My message on Booking has never got a response. It was a tricky period during the WebSummit as Lisbon was full and all accommodation that was left was too expensive for us. We stayed in the apartment for 6 days. The host didn't even offer to come and check on the apartment after we made him aware of the inconvenience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, not even for a short stay.

Nothing it was dirty and unfit to stay in we only stayed one night as it was moldy and I get asthma unfit to stay in. I request that you consider a refund

IsraelI wanted to share my recent experience with the apartment I stayed in at Alfama, Lisbon. While I was initially excited about my stay, things took a turn when I arrived. As soon as I entered the apartment, I was met with a strong odor of mold, which made it impossible for me to stay there comfortably for the four nights I had planned. I immediately contacted the bmyguest office to report the issue and requested a solution. Unfortunately, I had to wait nearly 24 hours for a response, only to be told that there was no alternative accommodation available. As a result, I had to find a new place to stay on very short notice, which caused further delays and forced me to spend another uncomfortable night in the apartment. This situation severely impacted my trip, as I spent a significant portion of it dealing with housing issues instead of enjoying Lisbon..

AngolaWhat was unpleasant was the fact that expenses outside those agreed on Booking appeared, that is, the space charged a separate cleaning fee, not foreseen in Booking, the space charged around €100 as a guarantee, a fact also not foreseen in the moment of choice on Booking. That was really embarrassing!
