“The staff were helpful and extremely interesting people and made a lot of difference to our stay. Of course the view was lovely, even in the rain. The hotel itself has an air of 'faded grandeur' to it, which gives it character. Although some things listed weren't actually in the room, the huge bed was extremely comfy and the room was nice and dark, and quiet for sleeping.The breakfast was a buffet and included cooked food, as well as cold meats, cheeses, and so on. There is even a swimming pool (outdoor) and, for us, 2 electric car charging points (free!!). The car park is not officially secure, but a security guard is around and nothing happened to our car nor anything left inside. You can easily walk to the historic sights and back if you are reasonably fit. (a lot of up and down hills!)”
