Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesLOVE this property!
My 2nd time staying at Punta Caracol in 3 months….that should say something about the accommodations! Love this place, the ambiance, the food and most of all…the staff. Can’t beat the location….hands-down simply amazing. The huts make this stay an amazing experience.

PanamaYou cannot charge any electronic device in the bedroom. However, you can ask the reception to lend you an outlet to do it.
The place is awesome for relaxation. Very peaceful and you hear the dolphins at sunrise. What a way to wake up! The staff overall was great. Pilar is very nice and helps you in everything you need. I just loved this place!

IsraelThe lack of AC is noticable but managable. It was raining at night and you couldnt sit on the porch because of how it is built. We r vegans and there werent many options for dinner (we should have told them in advance), food is average. Wifi not very good in the room, good in the restaurant area (also an advantage;)
The location on the water and the silence of nature are just perfect, like a dream coming true. The cabins are nice, simple, there is no tv and u can enjoy the sea to the fullest, just sit on your porch and watch the fish jumping outside the water and a group of dolphins passing by! The stuff is helpful and friendly and you can take snorkel equipment and a kayak for no charge. You cannot charge your phone in the room, only in the restaurant area. There are free boat taxis from town and to town on several hours, make sure to get informed before you take an expensive one to the hotel! Location is great, about 10 min to starfish beach and 15 to town.

GermanyThe food was a bit expensive for the fact that it only tasted ok. Also, when we wanted to check out in the morning there was nobody there. For us it was ok, since we weren’t in a rush and could have told them a night before - but it felt a bit strange to know, that there wouldn’t be anyone there in an emergency
The staff was very friendly and the location is just awesome! The sea was very very calm during our stay and the water was so clear. Definitely a great experience!! I recommend taking an external charger since there is no electricity except for the light in the cabins.

United StatesThe only thing I did not like is that I couldn't stay there longer.
OMG! This place is simply amazing. Everything:the location, accommodations, food and of course the people. This trip was a dream come true. I will never forget it. Very ecologically conscious as well. They have a solar panels on each bungalow, so the electricity in your bungalow is not enough for charging your phones. We would charge it in the restaurant area. It would be smart to bring a power bank. No TV in the bungalows as well, which no one really remembered, cause the view is better than any TV. They also have snorkeling equipment and paddle boats available to u for free. The food is simply amazing :all kinds of a seafood, but they have chicken too. Amazing clear water that u can jump directly from your bungalow to and just watch the fishes and some other creatures swimming buy, coral reefs. I know, many people have advised to buy a bug repellant. We did not see any bugs or mosquitoes, only those tiny 🦎,very tiny. However your bed is surrounded by this net, so nothing comes thru while u are asleep. Bed is very comfortable, the bathroom is great: running water, hot, cold.On that location there is no store, so if u wanna have some snacks and extra stuff, make sure u get it at Bocas Town before u get into the motor boat. That's what I did.U might not wanna bring little kids there. It's pretty much, a couple's getaway. Although we saw some people that looked like they were just friends. The couches in your bungalow are comfortable to sleep on as well, so one bungalow can easily fit 4 people. The master bedroom is on a second floor of a bungalow. They do bring bottled water daily, also because they are advising not to drink the running water. I'm so happy I went there, if u are conteplating- please, go! thank u so much to all the Punta Caracol staff.

United StatesNothing ! But to keep in mind, on the flipside the remote location comes with higher prices (food, transport to beach/town etc) and takes a while to get places.
Great bungalows on the water. Feels like a real treat! Stunning views. Quiet and calm place to relax, soak in the sun and swim in crystal clear waters. Away from hustle of bocas town and all the motor boats. Snorkeling and kayaking from the doorstep. Great food and super nice and helpful staff! Recommended for relaxation and quiet place

United StatesPunta Caracol Aqua Lodge offers a stunning, eco-friendly, overwater experience with breathtaking views and a peaceful environment. The bungalows provide a unique connection to nature, but several aspects of our stay left us disappointed. We saved up for this trip to celebrate our anniversary, and while we didn’t expect more than the basics, the unwelcoming attitude of the staff—an issue mentioned in reviews for years—made us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. In an industry built around hospitality, this lack of communication or effort to make us feel welcome was disheartening. We understand there may have been a language barrier, but kindness is universal. With the exception of two older women who worked in the kitchen in the mornings and were always kind and welcoming, the overall staff left much to be desired. We ended up going into town for meals instead of dining at the lodge due to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Additionally, the food is overpriced for what it is, with limited options that don’t justify the premium price tag. While the kitchen is advertised as open until 9 PM, many items were unavailable by the evening, which was frustrating. The boat service to and from the hotel was unreliable, with some guests seemingly prioritized over others. We even had to pay extra for alternative transport to ensure we made it to our destinations on time. The billing also lacked transparency. Instead of charging per meal or activity, everything was added to our bill at the end of our stay, leaving us blindsided by unexpected costs. Furthermore, we were not informed about the free amenities such as kayaks and snorkeling, which guests must physically push and pull from the water using an unstable dock. This process felt unsafe. All charging of electronics had to be done at the reception area, which left very little privacy or convenience. The shower water had a sewage-like smell and left me with a bad rash on my leg.

United StatesI didn’t realize this was an ecological place, so they want you to disconnect. Therefore, you have to charge your items at reception. Also, the fans in the lodge are smaller than usual. It was really hot the 2nd night even when we opened the doors. There is a hammock on the back. It came undone while my daughter was in it. She fell head first to the ground. My cousin went to report it and they gave him 2 aspirin and said they would come by. They never did. He said he didn’t realize it was that serious.
Peaceful getaway and I loved being able to jump off the back into the water.
