Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAbsolutely stunning location in pristine forest with the most spectacular beaches. Frank and his team were super friendly and welcoming. The food was always terrific and the rooms were great. Frank has so much knowledge of the fauna and flora in his resort, an inspirational man indeed. We truly hope to go back one day, one of the best places we’ve ever visited.

CanadaOnly one thing I didn’t like about this place: leaving it too soon!
The location is spectacular. Drop dead stunning views and amazing pristine beaches. Frank is an engaging character and loads of fun to have a conversation with. The property is quite spread out, so be prepared to walk some hills or hail the golf carts. The rooms are simple but clean, spacious and comfortable with a nice powerful fan. It’s a low impact place where you’ll mostly beach bum and chill, and eat some good food. The fruit was the best we had in Panama. There are oodles of birds- we saw 3 kinds of vultures, frigates and albatross all riding thermals at the same time. The howler monkeys are ever present and an anteater will likely stroll across your lawn You’ll need to spend about $35 on a water taxi (last boat at 5p) so plan accordingly. It’s well worth it. Frank will handle your questions by WhatsApp or email so you’ll have the info you need before you get there. Do yourself a favour and go pay Frank a visit while he’s still doing this. It’s a truly unique place.

United StatesThis was such an interesting, unique, and cool place to stay. There are multiple private beaches you can walk to that are movie-worthy they’re so stunning. The included food for all three meals each day was wonderful and I love that meals were often served so that you could sit and chat with other visitors—it created such a neat community in such a little time. The dedication to maintaining a smaller scale and being as eco-friendly as possible was a huge plus in my opinion as well. We ran into many people during our stay here that we’re returning for a second, third, etc visit to Pacific Bay Resort, and I could really see why. We’ve recommended it to several friends and we’d love to go back ourselves.

United StatesNothing...it was amazing! I will echo the comments left by another reviewer in that if you have difficulty walking/getting around, then this is not the place for you. Also, if you are expecting a 5-star resort, this is also not the place for you. However, if you want to disconnect and have "space", this is perfect.
Everything that we were hoping for and more. Peace, solitude, beauty...you really could not ask for more.

FranceSmall tips: bring a lamp for the unlit paths in the evening (or use your phone), get a Tigo sim card, it had the best coverage (the wifi is located on one spot only and is a bit weak); note that the rooms don’t walk - it is totally safe but you may be concerned about privacy. Enjoy!
The great thing about Pacific Bay is that it really slows you down - there is nowhere to rush so you just go slow and savour the simple things: the amazing starry sky, the noises of nature, the beautiful sea and the deserted beaches. It is like being on a lonely island but with hot water showers and electricity. Spend the evenings listening to Frank’s stories (some are a bit scary though), and the days searching for wildlife and splashing in the warm sea. The pace forces you to exercise because the roads are hilly. The view from the restaurant is to die for…Pacific bay is full of soul, a real balm for busy city dwellers. Three or four nights is optimal.

United StatesWeren't made aware of the possibility of running out of electrical power (happened on final night). No A/C. Needed to have flashlight for night walking. Guest must bring "everything" they might need on vacation - ie bug spray, sunscreen - no stores on island.
Freshly prepared meals very good (especially fresh fruit), staff very accommodating, fabulous views & wildlife, intimate settings, host provided informative introductory tour, property has been established & maintained with a high eco-consciousness and we felt like we took a trip back in time. Guest should be able & prepared for hilly walking to all meals & beaches. Would recommend.

CanadaThe website it not clear about some things and this might help others: you cannot use a hairdryer or any other electrical appliance, it kicks the power out. Do not bother bringing a hairdryer. You need to have good mobility to get on and off the boats and to get around. Even on the golf carts, you need some agility. Not a great place for older people with poorer mobility. I think it is important for folks with less agility to be aware of this otherwise you might have an unpleasant surprise. This time around the staff could only speak Spanish, it is probably due to being off-season. Bring Google translate along if you do not speak Spanish. They are very nice and incredibly helpful though! Someone else mentioned that it could not really be called a resort, but rather a retreat. I think I agree. That would bring about more accurate expectations. The boat trip across can be quite expensive. Negotiate the price beforehand. Would we love to go there again: absolutely.
Beautiful surroundings, fantastic beaches. Good food, although lacking in adequate protein with the meals for active men. We found out from the owner via email that the guys could ask for seconds and that helped a lot. Wonderful staff and very accommodating owner. Gorgeous property!!
