After travelling most of NZ, I can honestly say that this was the best hostel that I stayed in over my whole trip! It was clean, modern, comfortable and had excellent facilities - really appreciated the free tea, coffee and spices in the kitchen. Also, loved the tiling in the bathrooms. Can’t fault this place - more like a hotel than a hostel!

I personally liked it a lot but it is a hostel not a hotel so if hostelling is not your thing then it might not be for you.

This is a lovely friendly hostel, and it's really well situated right near Cuba Street. It's clean and safe and they have a great kitchen which is well equipped with big fridges!

Exceptional accomodation in its category. There is a specialness about this hostel that can only be truly appreciated by staying there. A true philosophy of placing the budget traveller at the heart of their hospitality. Every possible need is catered for to the highest of standards possible in its class. Care permeates everything in this place, from the charming staff to the architecture, quality of the fixtures and fittings, the art, the ambience, the cleanliness, and the provision of surprising little extras. If you’re going to be staying in Wellington on a budget and you don’t choose this place, you’ll be doing yourself a great disservice. Simply the best.

Slightly thin walls, but otherwise pretty good!

Staff were super helpful, the common areas were clean, and the bathrooms had shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Towels being included was a plus!

Wooden floors upstairs means people walking down hallway in middle of night was quite loud, algood if you fall back asleep easy

Awesome common areas with plently to do, eg roof top balcony, tv rooms with games & kitchen. Fridge & cupboard space to keep your food during your stay. Bag storage was handy for when you arrive but too early to check in

One of the best hostels I stayed in during my NZ trip. The hostel is quite new and super clean. It has a very nice vibe and is very well kept. Location is amazing, right next to bunch of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. Staff were super nice and helpful

Room was pretty small and several people had large suitcases which blocked the floor and door

Very modern, really nice kitchen area, bathrooms clean and beds comfortable with a curtain, light and charger. Location was good with walking distance to food, shopping and sights and good connectivity to other locations via public transport. Had free pancakes on my last day and a good map of the city. Towels were provided

Everything was perfect, the place was really comfortable, clean and cozy with very good sunlight everywhere, and people, both staff and guests were very kind, easy to access by public transport. I loved it. Next time I´ll be longer.

Beautiful hostel with heaps of activities for socialising. Big kitchen with free milk, coffee, hot chocolate and tea. Perfectly clean - totally recommend staying here!

Nothing major. The card for both my friend and myself stopped working an hour before checkout. Fixed easily enough by staff.

The location and friendly staff really made it. The showers were really nice and the place was thoroughly cleaned every day. I appreciate soaps and towels being included.

I loved how stable the beds were, bunk beds in hostels are so hit and miss, it's nice that these were so secure! The decoration of the hostel overall was lovely. I loved that there was a lounge area and showers on each floor.

Seriously, it's hard for me to find a fault with this place. The wifi was good, the communal areas were welcoming and it's location is close enough to the central city and all the main bus routes.

It's difficult to overstate just how impressed I was by the Marion Hostel. I've stayed in several different Wellington hostels over the years, but now I have found my 'forever go to' accommodation when travelling to Wellington on my own. Marion hostel has friendly and patient staff (I had a can of coke burst in my pack just after checking-in, but they happily sorted the mess all over their floor!) The hostel is super-clean and bristling with quirky character. The bunk rooms are very adequate, the beds are quiet and there are little touches like racks for shoes outside the rooms to cut down the foot odour in the dormitories. The bathrooms and showers are funky too with pseudo retro copper piping and basins. I loved staying here and will do so again without hesitation.

Nothing really. It was a hostel, so I expected to share a space, bathroom etc. Hard to argue what you get when the price is so reasonable and the staff are friendly. All around, great job! It made my Welly trip affordable and comfortable.

For a person traveling alone and on a budget, this was absolutely fantastic. I also liked the communal areas and the vibe. I felt welcome and that there was secruity in place to ensure my bag didn't go missing. The staff were friendly and asked if I wanted to stow my bag for the day when I checked out. Very cool. Thanks!

Hand to heart. I can't think of anything I didn't like

First time solo traveler, and it was the first time in a hostel outside of my country, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the choice I made. It was clean with enough bathrooms and toilets to cater to everyone. The location was absolutely perfect 👌 close to Cuba Street and walking distance from the museum, the supermarket, and the water front. I personally loved the rooftop and had most of my meals up there. I would definitely make a return trip.

Top bunk is a bit high but manageable

Nice confortable beds, privacy curtains are appreciated (it's not blackout on the top bunk as you can see the ceiling), clean and well designed showers and toilets. The hostel is well thought out and designed. It's cozy with its different lounge areas and eating spaces. The kitchen doesn't get too busy even though it is quite small considering how many people there are. And the events hosted by the hostel are nice, too bad I couldn't stay longer !

Ground floor can be a bit noisy sometimes. Walls are pretty thin so can hear next door noises/when people are walking in the corridor.

Such a nice hostel! Kitchen is amazing & you get complimentary coffee/tea. Hostel is clean and cozy, and the location is suberb. Will definitely come back here! :)

I felt like it was very cold in the hostel at night. Maybe consider upping the heating a bit as Winter comes.

Very comfy beds, bathrooms always clean at any time of the day and they’re plenty so never had to wait, very well equipped kitchen and great location
