Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesEverything was "fine" if you have the right expectation management. This was the most economical stay I booked during my trip so I was aware of the type of accommodation I was going to have. It is like a hostel. The "breakfast included" is quite lacking. There is mainly bread, old fruit, some jams and peanut butter, milk (I noticed milk with an old date was defrosting in the sink but I'm sure it was frozen before it expired- they put a white sticker over the date). Cleanliness can be improved in the kitchen as the sponges, towels and dish brush needed replacement. There is bar soap in the bathroom (maybe have liquid soap instead); I opened a drawer looking for addtional toilet paper and found a bunch of old toothpicks, tooth brushes, etc. in the bathroom which gave off the impression that tidyiness is not a priority. There is a sign that says, help yourself to some coffee and tea and then a donation for coffee. I also was not sure how to use the espresso machine so some directions would be helpful. You will need to bring your own toiletries. It seems like we are sharing bathroom facilities with the family who reside on the grounds. Recommend bringing a flashlight if staying in the cabins outside as it can get dark (there are string lights but a little dim with the rocks you need to get to the room). I'm glad I brought brought umbrella, too. Spa and sauna facilities are made available (for a fee) when you get the welcome email- but did not look as appealing to use as it is in the backyard. I finally met the host on my last day. I think I was expecting more interaction but I'm sure if I emailed or messaged through the app I would have received a response. They did have good communication on the white board in the foyer.
I enjoyed meeting other travelers, the lake view from the main house and from the loft in the morning. The location was okay. It was nice to get away from the main town and the location was a short drive from the attractions. Also, it was nice having access to the fridge to store perishable items.

Everything...nice and peaceful. Room was large and clean. Host was so hospitable. View from patio, wonderful. Fully stocked kitchen with lots of drinks, and food. Every guest has access to everything that is in the kitchen. So homely atmosphere. Thank you very much. Loved, Dusty, and the two little ones!

AustraliaNothing to not like!
A place that's out of the world and I didn't want to return home. Was it the stunning views, or the lovely hosts, or like-minded travellers? Perhaps all of them!

United StatesWow, what an incredible stay. This was my favorite place I stayed in New Zealand. Whatever time you have booked I’d double it because you won’t want to leave! Kari and Paul, the owners, are so incredibly kind and welcoming. It truly felt like home away from home. The beds are comfy, plenty of self serve breakfast items in the shared kitchen, lots of shared space to relax and take in the incredible views and hang out with the 3 pups at the property. Would highly recommend and hope to return again someday. Thank you!

United StatesHot pool was unavailable and when I asked it wasn't at temperature, so just be aware that may not be an option for you. Quite a few cobwebs in the room, was otherwise clean. No sound insulation whatsoever so you will hear the other guests and doors closing.
Lovely homestay with a friendly host family. Big view and nice Buddhist vibe to the place. Chill dogs. Would like to attend a retreat here. Bed was very comfortable with what seemed like professionally washed sheets.

New ZealandThis B&B was a surprise discovery during my travels! From its charming exterior to its cozy rooms, everything is a delight. The warm hospitality of the B&B owner made me feel at home, and most impressively, the B&B is in a great location with many attractions within walking distance. Next time I visit the area, I will definitely stay at this lovely B&B again!

The house is beautiful, the room was so cozy and comfortable and warm. Kaari made me feel like home. The kitchen has everything you need to cook with a great coffee machine:) Even though it’s not in the city center there’s a bus stop 2 min walk from the house abd it’s a beautiful 7 min trip to the town center.
