Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

It was the perfect getaway. Though we had planned to go skiing and tramping, we stayed on the farm most of the time as it was so relaxing. It had unbelievable views and was very peaceful.

New ZealandNothing😊 A wee note though with directions.... if you're following booking.coms map directions it will take you to the owners house just up the road..... so use Anna's detailed directions that come through once booked.
This home was fabulous and just as described. Plenty of space for everyone, every appliance you could need+well equipped. The setting + views are second to none and absolutely make sure you crank up the wood fired hot tub! Fairlie is only 15mins down the road + a pleasant drive in itself. Wood fire heated entire house+was really really easy to get going. Thanks Anna for popping ova + helping out with the tub! No hesitation at all in coming back for another epic stay.

New ZealandThe location is fantastic - amazing views of the night sky and really easy to get to. Not that far from Fairlie/Tekapo but far away enough that it felt like a little hide out. The accommodation itself is pristine, with everything sparkling clean and the fire lit on arrival - for a day firmly in the negative degrees this was beyond awesome. Having alpacas and Kunekune pigs so close was an added bonus! It feels like there has been a lot of attention to detail and the end result is brilliant. The only issue we had (due to user error!) was the wood fire hot tub. It was a bit tricky to figure out when it would be warm enough, and ended up going out a couple of times - which we paid for with very cold toes!

Amazing cottage that's part of a working farm where my daughter had a wonderful time with the alpacas, kune kune pigs, sheep, horses and ponies. Anna was very kind and welcoming to us, and even let our girl have a quick ride on the pony. Definitely an experience that we will remember and cherish forever. The night sky was alight with stars and the milky way, and even though it was chilly, we were warm and toasty in the cottage by the fireplace. Everything was so quiet and peaceful. We will be back for sure and the next time, we will look to stay for at least a week. Thank you for sharing your cottage and farm with us!

Thailandthe windows around the house had a film that looked like mirrors from the inside and was clear visible from outside. I don’t know if there’s a reason for that but it bothered me for a bit at night.
we loved everything! it was clean and beautiful. it had all the necessary amenities. we miss our neighbors peppa, George and the two alpacas! the views are breathtaking and you’re surrounded by farm animals all around.

United StatesOnly thing is it can get a little bit cold in the bedrooms in winter. But there are extra plug in heaters provided as back up (we didn't have to use these in the end, just took turns starting fires early morning)
Unbeatable alpine views in a remote but still accessible part of South Canterbury. Just a stunning location, beautiful changing views throughout the day, with a perfectly situated outdoor seating to take in the gorgeous sunrise/sunset while sipping on great coffee (provided). The wood stoked outdoor spa under the night sky was an unforgettable experience. Great for kids too, with very well behaved alpacas, kune kune pigs, miniature ponies, and chickens in nearby paddocks. Best of all, the hosts were fantastic and approachable with prompt communication throughout our stay. It was just perfect for our family getaway and we cannot wait to be back with friends!

New ZealandWhile I love a log burner for warmth, others might like to know there was no heat pump for backup. Eventually, we found a couple of space heaters which was good for peace of mind. Also, since the suggestion is for self-catering, which is ideal for the location, I'd suggest enhancing the kitchen utensils with better knives, wooden cooking stirrers (or any stirrers), not-fragile mixing bowls, and fry pans that are not cast-iron (maybe a big one and small one for eggs for example). Lastly, every other place I can think of that provides coffee/tea service leaves a bit of milk in the fridge on arrival. But these are small things compared to the enormous pleasure we had at and gratitude for Fox Cottage.
This place is incredible!! From the view of the mountains to the stock animals nearby but not intrusive, the log burning hot tub, and the modern conveniences of a newly built 4 bedroom home, we loved it all. The hosts were warm and friendly and went out of their way to ensure our stay was as perfect as possible, even delivering their own coffee machine when I had trouble with the one in the kitchen. Lots of wood to keep us warm and the insulation in the house meant it stayed very warm.
