Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaDouble bed was slightly firm but perfectly fine. The room took a while to heat up was a wall heater and a small oil heater available. But room is NW facing so on a sunny day would get plenty of sun but had been cool weather.
Was a very nice quiet spot and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to use the portacot for our wee boy. We were in a unit next to the conference room which is really nice and spacious great for an evening relaxing.

New ZealandRooms were a little tired, especially bathrooms, but nothing bad.
Quaint, nestled in bush area in middle of Catlins, so good jump-off point. One of few facilities open during winter - was definitely a plus.

New ZealandShared kitchen had no heater and was lacking cooking utensils. Heating in the room wasn't as effective either, we were mostly cold through the night.

New ZealandStaff were a little disorganised. For example at check-in I was given a site map directing me to the wrong cabin.
Cabin was tidy, as were communal facilities.

New ZealandThe fish wasn’t fresh and so wasn’t as tasty. The next day we went in for coffees. The flat white and cappuccino had the milk burnt. The milk had formed skins in the cup what wasn’t pleasant to drink.
It was a nice place to stay. I like that they had a restaurant attached for dinner. We could borrow a DVD to watch in our room after dinner, what was a nice addition.

United States of AmericaThere was no one there Sunday morning to sell us breakfast, and we didn't come very early -- 8:30am. A ghost town.

New ZealandWe did find that there were no dessert plates in the kitchen and few utensils.
It provided an ideal location for our sightseeing between McLean Falls (seen late afternoon) and Cathedral Caves (the following morning). The curried meal option was filling and good value.

NetherlandsThe room was really very small. The heater was about useless. It took me a quarter of an hour to get the TV to work. (I had to delve deeply into the settings.) And the only other facility was an electric water boiler. (This corresponded more or less to the information on the pages of booking.com, but it was still a bit of a shock.) The men's bathroom, especially the urinals, was not very clean.
The staff was very friendly. There was a restaurant which was very convenient as the next restaurant was quite far away. The location is really excellent, especially for visiting the Cathedral Caves.

New ZealandI was charged prior to our trip despite specifying to pay on arrival. Was charged more than the stated rate, and when tried to discuss this with reception was told it was “taxes” which were clearly already included in the receipt. Then told it must be a credit card surcharge- which I had not chosen to use and was not advertised. No refund was offered, and was told “you can have %20 off the restaurant, which is clearly offered to all guests on posters at the site. Very poor.
The location was convenient.

New ZealandStaff seemed disorganized and not overly friendly. Couldn't find our booking booked for 3 adults and had us in room with 1 double bed Changed to one bedroom with single bed in lounge, which was fine. Didn't eat there it has a reputation for not having good food ( from people who have stayed previously) Could tell people on arrival what facilities they have, like they have happy hour, copy of menus Update resort info in room looked like info from previous owners

New ZealandNo complaints.
Being in an isolated area, the Restaurant was a bonus. A satisfying meal. Finding the motel unit was a bit of a challenge. The map presented should have circled "Sampson Hill Lodge" which was faded out as that is the lane we were supposed to enter. It is quite a large complex. Otherwise, the unit was clean and the facilities on offer are quite extensive for the more expensive units.

CanadaThe shared kitchen was the worst we have seen on our travels. Inadequate equipment and dishes very dirty. Not sure when tea towels had last been washed. No cutlery and bugs in the cutlery container. Shared bathrooms were not clean with very low water pressure for the ahowera.
The cabin and restaurant were good. Cabin was quaint and clean. We had a good pizza at the restaurant.
