Comfortable bed, location was convenient for us in Thamel, rooms were clean, wifi works well. Was very quiet at night time. We were able to leave our bags behind for 3 weeks with the hotel whilst we went trekking.

It’s the ideal base for exploring the lively streets of Kathmandu while still being a peaceful retreat when you want to escape the city’s hustle. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, providing a perfect space to relax after a day of sightseeing. I especially loved the rooftop terrace, where I could unwind with a great view of the city. If you’re looking for a place with excellent service, a prime location, and a welcoming atmosphere, this hotel is an absolute gem! I can’t wait to return on my next visit to Kathmandu.

I love everything about this property! The staff are amazing! The had been very helpful even before I arrived at the hotel. That was my first time in Nepal and they just made it so magical 🥰🥳 The location is perfect. It's in the shopping centre, food is easy to find, SIM card shop is just 5 minutes walking from the hotel.

Everything! The room, the surroundings and especially the staff. They were so helpful and so supportive. We had a problem with a parcel that we send from Nepal to Europe and the manager and the rest of the staff took the time to help us, even if we had already checked out, and went in person to the post office to help us out. We are so grateful and so amazed by the beautiful gesture. This tells a lot about the hotel, since it’s not the facilities that makes a place special, but the people working there ☺️

The staff were extremely helpful with making sure our stay was comfortable and they also offer advice for Kathmandu and onward travel. The location is great on the Main Street and near restaurants, shops and a mini market for water etc, the view from the rooftop is one of the best and they serve food and drinks. Room was spotless, comfortable and big. Shower facilities worked brilliantly with hot and cold water. If it’s your first time in Kathmandu this would be the perfect place to stay, if not first time then stay anyway, we stayed in another hotel our previous time and it did not compare to this. If we come again we will stay here. Thank you to all staff :-)!

Really friendly staff- everyone made you feel especially welcome. 24hr reception. Brilliantly located in Thamel, and set back a little so that it was peaceful at night. Good breakfast options. We left our luggage here whilst away trekking which worked perfectly to come back for and stay again either side. Nice rooftop terrace to chill on.

Well I stayed here for 3 nights with my family. Location is great, rooms are comfortable specially the mattress is so comfy..... staff were amazingly helpful ... And highly recommend aswell as gonna book again In future....

Very pleased with our stay at Hotel Ama-la. Breakfast was delicious and in house coffee was above my expectations (for an Australian coffee lover). The location was fantastic down a quiet alley but very close to the heart of Thamel area. The room was comfortable and had beautiful warm lighting, double glazed windows and very warm. It was also nice and quiet which was good because we had a baby with us. I would also say it was very safe for young kids, baby and toddler could roam around the room with no problems of sharp edges or other dangers. Bed was super comfortable and warm. Hot water also very luxurious!! There is a beautiful rooftop as well where you can see all of the city and enjoy a drink, it’s also safe for kids. The staff were extremely polite and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. They are very kind and trustworthy, the hotel is owned by a Tibetan family who were very hospitable to us and sweet to the kids. Very clean very comfortable stay I am very happy with our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a great stay in Kathmandu!!!
